Job: Heritage Advisor Dunedin Central
Reference: 5663195
Dunedin is arguably the heritage capital of New Zealand and has a wealth of built and cultural heritage, and a community that is dedicated to its retention and celebration. DCC has been a leader in encouraging heritage conservation and adaptive re-use and is seeking someone to continue that legacy. Are you the can-do, positive person that is ready to take up that challenge?

Jim Wintle Chair | Mangawhai Daring Trust  writes:
Since moving the Daring to Mangawhai in May we've made good progress in that we have lifted some of the ceiling planks inside the vessel and cleaned out the sand that was sitting between the ceiling and outer planks. We're going to leave a couple of the planks out as the construction of the vessel and the sawn frames are quite visible and impressive for visitors to see. We've straightened up the bow sprit and windlass and are in the process of reassembling the beams while slowly jacking the hull back into alignment.
We currently have our conservators HPFS Solutions working on a plan to conserve the timbers and metals of the hull. Part of the process in developing this is applying different techniques on different timbers. We expect a report on the outcomes of this and recommendations for the ongoing treatment in the next few weeks.
The building design for the Daring Discovery Centre is nearing finalisation
We are now at the serious funding end of the project.  To help with the cost of the educational material, the conservation plan and ongoing conservation work, we have set up a givealittle page. Any support you can give would be much appreciated and I ask that you widely share the link to the givealittle page with your friends and family and enlist their support for the project.

You will see from the style the eNews consists largely of links.
Our preferred form is  a few lines at most, with a link or an email contact for further information.
At a pinch we may self-host longer documents to link in the eNews, but they must be submitted as pdf or word documents as attachments to emails. They need some processing so there may be a delay in their being used.
If you are running a conference we will usually run a link once only - and if you don't have a website for it yet, then tell us when you have.
Relevant job advertisements are welcome - there is no charge.
