Fall in love with Autumn Crochet

OCTOBER 2021

Well, Fall is here people. But! Our Life’s a Beach series for 2021 still goes on. The great thing about this month’s project is that it’s extremely versatile for practically all year round! This gorgeous Beach Kimono can be worn as a cover up or as a Fall or Spring wardrobe accessory.

It was created in the Raglan style, which you don’t see done very often with Kimonos. I thought this would make it a little more unique in its design and I love how it came out. There’s no sewing!

The yarn I used for this project was the Flowers line by YarnArt. It’s a fingering weight 1 and I used a 3.75mm hook (aka Size F/5). It’s a cotton blend which is perfect for this project. You don’t have to use this yarn but if you want something lightweight, I would recommend a yarn along the lines of a fingering weight our fine weight yarn in a cotton blend.

If you’d like to check out the yarn I did use and would like to support my amazon shop, you can check it out below:

And if you are wondering which beach location, I went to for this month’s project….

I went back to Cobourg beach as it was finally opened and I wanted to take advantage of this gorgeous stretch of sandy heaven on the northern shores of Lake Ontario. If you’d like to find out more about the history of this location, you can click the video below from our trip there in April, to show off the Summer Time T.

In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in the second weekend in October and I usually take that time to thing about the next chapter of… things, life. Many do this in the New Year but for me there’s something about the Fall harvest and the clear change of seasons that makes me ponder my journey so far and what may be to come.

I also like to take the time to reach out to everyone and anyone who could use a little heartfelt connection. I’d like to say to you reading this right now that I appreciate you. I appreciate your company on my little creative journey with this beautiful craft we call crochet. It’s so lovely to know that there are people out there who are getting joy out of what I have been creating.

In the photo above, I was filming a quick Thanksgiving video to you all in 2019 and we were 150 strong in the Stitch Sessions YouTube family. It was so exciting! And at this Thanksgiving of 2021, we are currently sitting at 4000. That’s so amazing! That means you all are enjoying the content and finding it very useful and very entertaining and that’s always my goal.

Thank you again for continuing to support my creative journey with crochet and story telling. Wishing you all a beautiful, healthy and happy Thanksgiving . I’m thankful to you all!
