We wanted to remind you that we are holding a virtual and in-person Focus Group next week as part of the development of our next Five-year Strategy to develop and promote theTownship's tourism and visitor economy. The project is focused on defining competitive opportunities for the Township that can be the primary focus for Tourism Langley's efforts for the next five years. We are gathering feedback from leaders in the Township about what makes Langley a unique area and the opportunities for marketing and destination development. In addition, even though we haven't had our Thanksgiving dinners, we are talking about the holidays. We are receiving regular requests from visitors and media asking what events and happenings are planned for November / December, so a reminder to share details of what you are working on when you have that available. We are also planning our final #Langleyfresh Gift Box - these sold out very quickly last year; if you are interested in participating, please see below for information on what we are looking for.

FIVE YEAR STRATEGIC PLANNING FOCUS GROUP
We would love to have your participation in a facilitated discussion on Wednesday, October 13th, to share your thoughts and insights on Langley’s potential as a tourism destination.
This will also be an opportunity to review the latest Destination Next report on global destination strategies and trends, which was completed with the assistance of GainingEdge.
The session will be from 0800 to 1100 at the Langley Regional Airport #300 - 5385 216 St Langley. Social distancing protocols will be in place at the in-person session to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone.
If you would prefer to attend a virtual session instead, we will be hosting a virtual focus group two days later from 0900 to 1200 on Friday, October 15th.

POWER UP PROGRAM
Destination BC is still accepting applications for Power Up!, an application-based digital mentoring program that provides 75 small- and medium-sized tourism businesses, sole proprietors and non-profits with free access to digital audit and technical services designed to improve digital marketing activities and use of digital technology. Service costs are covered up to a maximum of $5,000 per participant. There are only a few spots left, so apply quickly to avoid missing this opportunity.

UPDATE: INDUSTRY MESSAGING GUIDE FOR PROOF OF VACCINATION
Destination BC has updated their industry messaging guide centered on the proof of vaccination requirements that came into effect September 13, 2021. The guide includes key messaging, important information, resources and FAQs for BC’s tourism industry. You can access the guide HERE.
New Fraser Valley Explorer and Food & Wine Guide
At the beginning of October, The Fraser Valley Group created a new Food & Wine Guide and Explorer Newspaper. The Food & Wine Guides will be delivered to all wineries and other businesses over the coming weeks, while the Newspaper will be distributed across British Columbia, Alberta and the Yukon.
Tourism Langley also has other printed materials that we make available to you, such as Pads of Tear Off Maps, Circle Farm Tour brochures, Fraser Valley Ale Trail brochures and Fraser Valley Experiences Guides. Please use our order form to request the items you would like to have. Once we receive your order, we will reach out and deliver them to your door!
WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON?
It seems crazy that we are already thinking about the holidays when Halloween hasn't even happened yet! We will be working on various projects over the coming months, including some media itineraries for writers looking for story ideas on what is happening this holiday season in the Township of Langley. A few ideas could be:

Unique gifts or gift boxes
Holiday events or activities
Picture-worthy displays

#LangleyFresh Gift Box
We are starting to prepare for the final #LangleyFresh Gift Box of the year - Christmas! We are looking to include items made in Langley, and we would need to be able to purchase approximately 100 of each item at a discount of 10-15% off retail to keep the price of the boxes below retail value.
