St David's Minister's Missive

Dear St David's Church Family💒

This Sunday we will be reflecting on Jesus' teaching to the rich young ruler to go and sell all he owns and give the money to the poor, and having a think about what this might mean for us in our lives today. To mark Mental Health Week, we will be welcoming Chris Longfoot, who will be offering us some ideas on how to come to terms with the unhappy moments in our lives, and then go on to lead a fulfilling life.

You'll find the liturgy attached here. Please join us this Sunday at 9.30am on livestream through our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you there!

This week's prayer is called 'A blessing for when you just need to put one foot in front of the other' by Kate Bowler:

Oh God, the thought of trying
for a new and improved me
just makes me tired.

I am barely getting anywhere,
so, draw me closer to a different vision,
one that sees that I don't need perfection -
I need love.

I need to be freed from
the expectation that life should
always be better.

the everyday stressors -
the bills, the pressure,
the dependents,
the existential fears about
the future and
the worries of right now.
I am threadbare.

Blessed are we,
remembering that the world
is not ours to shoulder alone.
Help us put one foot
in front of the other
as best we can.

God, today give us
strength to go on,
give us hope to see a future,
give us joy to make it
not simply bearable...
but beautiful.

Amen

All are welcome in this place.
With love, hope and peace

Joy💒
