Did you see what was written about the performance in Midland? Check it out! Our band is doing amazing things. I know that it is a lot right now. Remember it is for a few more weeks and then we will miss it!
McKinney Contest - Saturday
Our band had a tremendous showing at the Bands of America contest in Midland. We are excited to perform again this weekend at McKinney. The band hall opens Saturday morning at 6:30AM. The weather is supposed to be hot. Make sure your child has a good breakfast and is hydrated.
MISD Showcase - Monday
Monday is the MISD Showcase which is another opportunity for our students to practice and perform at Newsom stadium and have a clinic with judges for feedback. Band hall opens at 2:00pm. Students should be returning back to school around 7:15.
UIL Region Contest - Tuesday
This is a regional contest that our district is hosting on Tuesday. Students will be competing at Newsome Stadium. We would love to have a few more Summit HS volunteers to help make this day go smoothly. Please follow this link to sign up UIL Volunteers
Meeting
Mark your calendars for the next booster meeting on Monday, October 18th. We have a lot to discuss to finish the competition season strong. We will also be working on our biggest fundraiser of the year. We would love to see all parents there. This is the best way to learn about what is going on in the band.

Note from the secretary
I know this is a lot of work. My first year as a band mom was crazy. I will tell you when November came and competition season was over - I missed it. This is an exciting time and the students need to feel our enthusiasm as they might start to feel tired. Make sure that they have opportunities to rest, watch their grades (all students must be academically eligible to perform), make sure they are eating and drinking a ton of water. From what I can tell watching their faces-the students are loving this season. The win in Midland was a big deal. As parents our job is to encourage and support. The Summit band is doing amazing things. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!
