Ancestors Day
On November 1st we will have a festival day to honor our ancestors. We've celebrated this time of the year--the confluence of Halloween, Day of the Dead, Samhain---for several years and every time we collectively create a reverent and creative day. After a much-subdued event last year, the Faculty is hoping to bring back the full experience. There will be no regular classes and we are organizing workshops and activities. If you are interested in helping out contact Shawn@yihs.net or you can fill out this online form: Ancestor Day sign up.
The Circus Is Coming to Town
If you have experience with light and sound, I'd love your help with the upcoming circus class performance on November 5th. If you have portable lighting or know where I could find some, let me know. Contact shawn@yihs.net
Carpooling: Everybody Wins
Do you drive to Madison from time to time? If so, would you consider helping transport a boarding student occasionally? We are creating a list of people willing to give a ride to a student when the need arises. There is no commitment involved, but if you would be open to being asked, please let Bean know at bean@yihs.net
Thank you!

Very Important Updates in the Coronavirus Cupboard
COVID is a real thing that requires our attention - but we're not going to let it define us. So we're moving our COVID information and updates out of the headlines and onto the back pages where they belong. Each week, you'll be able to click here to view COVID news and updates that impact the YIHS school experience. Look inside the Coronavirus Cupboard
Poem of the Week
God by John Lennon
God is a concept
By which we measure our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure our pain
Yeah, pain, yeah
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I Ching
I don't believe in the Bible
I don't believe in tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in yoga
I don't believe in kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me
Yoko and me
And that's reality
The dream is over
What can I say?
The dream is over
Yesterday
I was the dreamweaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the walrus
But now I'm John
And so, dear friends
You'll just have to carry on
The dream is over
