Pumpkin Sunday

This Sunday our altar will be adorned with Pumpkins.  After church we are going to deliver pumpkins along with friendly smiles to many different people in our church including our shut-ins.  This is a special way to make contact with our church members.  This is especially important as we continue to be separated due to the pandemic.
Homeless Care Bags
For the past 3 years we have united as a community and made tremendous care kits for our homeless. They are given out in December as a gift from the community.  This past Sunday we took time to bless the 110 bags that Carol and her sewing friends made this year for this special occasion.  They will fill the bags on Saturday October 23rd.
The Power of Communion - Sermon Notes
In the sermon on October 3rd I shared John Wesley's thoughts on Communion.  Below are those thoughts in his own words.  You can watch the worship service at this link:  Worship 10-3-2021

John Wesley believed the Lord’s Supper to be “the grand channel whereby the grace of his Spirit was conveyed to the souls of all the children of God”

“The first reason why it is the duty of every Christian so to do is because it is a plain command of Christ. That this is his command appears from the words of the text, 'Do this in remembrance of me': by which, as the Apostles were obliged to bless, break, and give the bread to all that joined with them in those holy things, so were all Christians obliged to receive those signs of Christ's body and blood. Here therefore the bread and wine are commanded to be received, in remembrance of his death, to the end of the world. Observe, too, that this command was given by our Lord when he was just laying down his life for our sakes. They are therefore, as it were, his dying words to all his followers”

"A Second reason why every Christian should do this as often as he can, is, because the benefits of doing it are so great to all that do it in obedience to him; viz., the forgiveness of our pasts ins and the present strengthening and refreshing of our souls. In this world we are never free from temptations. Whatever way of life we are in, whatever our condition be, whether we are sick or well, in trouble or at ease, the enemies of our souls are watching to lead us into sin. And too often they prevail over us.  Now, when we are convinced of having sinned against God, what surer way have we of procuring pardon from him, than the 'showing forth the Lord's death;' and beseeching him, for the sake of his Son's sufferings, to blot out all our sins."

Christmas Handbell Rehearsal Begins Thursday, October 14th

Join us for this special opportunity to ring bells at our special Christmas music Sunday, December 19th, and possibly on Christmas Eve as well.  Rehearsals will start on Thursdays at 6:00 pm, but may change as needed by those who participate.  If you have questions or you would like to join us, please contact Tim Smith, our Music Director.  timothy.j.smith21114@gmail.com.
Time to Update the Directory

It's been just about a year since our last directory came out.  We will be checking in with everyone to make sure your information has not changed over the last year.  Several people have moved, others have gotten rid of their landline telephones.  We want to make sure we have all of that updated in our directory and in our computer system.

You can help by proactively emailing the Office@RamonaUMC.org and letting us know what if any information has changed?  Here are some questions to help guide you.

1.  Have you moved in the last year?
2.  Did you change your phone number, or get rid of your landline phone?
3.  Did you change your email or stop using your email?
4.  Is there more or less information you would like publicly shown in the directory?

If you have your 2020 directory, feel free to use it as a guide and simply email any changes you would like to have made.
Midweek Connection has Returned

Current Sermon Series
September 12th - October 31st

Courageous and forward-leaning mission congregations practice spiritual disciplines. Our vital work is a spiritual adventure based on John Wesley's Means of Grace. John Wesley taught that God's grace is unearned and that we are not to be idle waiting to experience grace but we should engage in the Means of Grace. The Means of Grace are ways God works invisibly hastening, strengthening; and confirming faith so that God's grace pervades in and through disciples. As we look at several of these Means of Grace we will gain tools to develop and nurture our personal faith and relationship with God.  We will also become better equipped to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world.  The series began on September 12th  and covers topics including Study, Worship, Prayer, Sacraments, and Teaching.  Join us in person or online for this exciting 8-week series.  Remember, if you miss a week in-person you can always catch up with the YouTube versions.

CD/ DVD Worship Service Ministry

If you, or someone you know, has trouble viewing our worship service on YouTube or Zoom, we are happy to send out a CD or DVD copy of the worship service each week instead.  We are already doing this and would gladly do it for more people. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the weekly worship services.   The disks usually arrive in the mail on Thursday or Friday of each week following the Sunday worship service.  This service is free, as our Good Samaritan Fund covers the very minimal cost of Media Mail rate from the Post Office.

How to Lift up a Prayer Request to be Shared in Worship
Prayer concerns for worship can be submitted throughout the week but have to be turned in by 9:00 am on Sunday to be sure they are included in Sunday's worship service.  If you don't like using electronic devices,  you can fill out a prayer card in the back of the sanctuary before church and hand it to Jennifer at the table in the back of the sanctuary.  Otherwise you can send us your prayer concerns anytime using one of the following ways.
EMAIL: sundayprayers@ramonaumc.org
or ONLINE FORM: https://ramonaumc.org/sundayprayers/
Send by Sunday Morning at 9:00 AM
 Record your Attendance each Sunday

When watching live on Zoom or a recording on YouTube, please use the QR code like the one above to open up an online form and sign in on the attendance form so we can track the worship service attendance accurately. If you don't know how that works or if you're not sure you have a QR code reader on your phone, you can check out more on our webpage at: Ramonaumc.org/qr
