City Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 12th at 5pm
The City Council meeting agenda includes:
  • Links to staff reports for each item
  • Login/call-in information
  • Ways to weigh in on the issues being discussed
Agenda items include:
J1. Provide direction on purchasing options for renewable microgrid, electric vehicle charging, and solar thermal pool heating for the Menlo Park Community Campus project.
L2. Authorize the Mayor to sign the City's response to the San Mateo County's Civil grand jury report: "Building Greater Trust Between the Community & Law Enforcement via the Racial and Identity Profiling Act."
L10. Receive and file climate action plan progress report, reporting methodology and goal clarity going forward, and Environmental Quality Commission recommendations.
M3. Adopt the Transportation Management Association feasibility study final report. (Continued from September 21, 2021). 
M4. Approve an update to the Complete Streets Commission work plan and adopt a resolution to support Seamless Transit Principles.

Recent reports of kid/car-related collisions have parents and neighbors concerned about the safety of our city's streets. Please join Menlo Park City Councilmember and founder of Parents for Safe Routes Jen Wolosin, and M-A Parent Laurie Sobel on Sunday, October 17th at 5pm for a far-ranging conversation about our streets and how to make them safer. Residents and stakeholders are invited to send their questions and concerns to jenmenlopark@gmail.com ahead of the event so that they can be addressed during the discussion. There will also be opportunities to ask questions at the event.

Application Deadline Coming Up (October 15th)
Independent Redistricting Commissioners Needed

It's not too late to apply to serve on the Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC). This important commission will set Menlo Park’s electoral boundaries for City Council districts following the 2020 census.  The IRC shall be comprised of seven (7) commissioners and two (2) alternate commissioners. Applications and more information are available on the City's website hereDeadline to apply is October 15, 2021.
Upcoming Youth Town Hall with
Assemblymember Marc Berman (October 20th at 5pm)
Assemblymember, and District 3 resident, Marc Berman is holding a Youth Town Hall on Wednesday, October 20th at 5pm. This is a great way for young people to get involved and to share their unique perspectives with one of our state leaders. Those in high school and college are especially encouraged to attend. And in case that young person in your life needs more motivation to get engaged, anyone who asks a live question at the Youth Town Hall will receive a voucher for a free boba tea. Ballots Arriving for MPCSD Measure B
Deadline to Vote is November 2nd
Menlo Park D3 voters have the opportunity to approve Measure B, a parcel tax that will help secure long-term financial stability for the Menlo Park City School Districts schools. This is a replacement for Measure X (passed with overwhelming support in 2017), which is sunsetting.

Switch to Clean Energy: The Importance of Electrifying our Homes

Curious about all the talk about electrifying home appliances? Come learn more about this important topic either in person or online at an upcoming event hosted by Peninsula Interfaith Climate Action and being held at St. Bede's in Menlo Park. The event will include the perspective of a subject matter expert, local students and it will even include an induction cooking demonstration.
