How to Find Judges
If your PTA receives around 20 (or less) entries, you can advance all submissions to Council; although you can also judge them and send the top entries through. It is up to you. If you do need judges, don't worry! They do not need to be professional artists, although it is helpful if they have knowledge in the area they are judging. You can ask teachers at a local dance studio, an art docent from a different school, or a neighbor who is an avid reader.

Click here to find the judging rules and forms you can print out and provide to your judges.

Click here for the Reflections Local Leaders guide, which has more information to help you run your program.

Virtual Submissions
The Northshore Council PTSA 2021-22 Reflections program is virtual again.

Even though parts of the Reflections Program will feel a little different again, there are many aspects of the program that have not changed -- especially the parts that are student facing. Students will still fill out their entry forms, write their artist statement, choose a category and create their works of art using the theme "I Will Change the World By ..."

Council will likely have a virtual art showcase again this year. We will provide more info closer to January.

Please visit the Northshore Council PTSA website and read the most recent Reflections blog post for the latest information. Check back regularly! Send me email with questions/ideas/worries! We are here for you and our NSD students!

The most important thing you can do right now is

Promote Reflections!

Many Reflections Chairs say "Where Do I Start?"

First, click here to review the PTA Reflections Leader Packet which has the handbook, judges' packet, submissions checklist and Reflections at a glance. There are also helpful templates and logos to print and use online.

At this point in the school year, just promote Reflections.  This could be in your newsletter, eblast, social media.  You can contact teachers, principals, assistants and administrators to see if they will help promote Reflections. At the secondary level speaking with the art teachers and English teachers often works.  Maybe create a slide or flier with the theme, categories and due dates so it is easy to share in Zoom meetings. Ask for a few minutes on your PTA meeting agenda!

SAMPLE PROMOTION:
PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity. Students of all grades and abilities may participate by submitting original pieces of work in 6 categories (Dance, Musical Composition, Visual Arts, Film, Literature and Photography) against the theme of "I Will Change the World By ...".

Students will create their work of art AND write a short artist statement.  Judging is based on both the artwork and artist statement.

Our PTA can send 20 Reflections art pieces to Northshore Council PTSA in December.  Those students' works of art will be celebrated at a district open house in January.  Council will judge the pieces in each category and some pieces will continue onto State PTA and National PTA for further judging.  Regardless of where a student places, our PTA will celebrate any student artist who submits a piece of art for Reflections.

Pieces are due to our PTA by ________________.  For any questions please ask ______________.
For more information and students packets (rules and forms) go to http://www.northshorecouncilptsa.org/reflections.html (make sure you scroll down the page to see the student packet links in each category)
