Here are some reminders for parents in regards to costumes on Friday, October 29th.
Regular Halloween masks may be worn this year.
Costumes for school should be fun, friendly, and safe for all scholars.
Please refrain from costumes that include the following: weapons, gore and/or blood, or require a scholar to wear unsafe shoes throughout the day.
NO weapons are permitted as part of a costume.
Costume accessories that are deemed dangerous or similar to weaponry are not permitted.
Be mindful that face paint can also get very uncomfortable and messy for scholars to wear the entire day. (Especially our younger scholars.)
All costumes should maintain the integrity of our school dress code.
Scholars are not required to wear a costume. They can wear a Halloween spirit shirt, their favorite shirt, their uniform or their free dress Friday day.

We will be having Q1 Awards Assemblies next week.

Bikes for Books
Dear Leman Academy Parents,

Leman Academy of Excellence Sierra Vista is partnering with Huachuca Masonic Lodge No. 53 for our 3rd Annual Bikes for Books program.

The goal of Bikes for Books is to create an incentive for our scholars to read more books. For every age-appropriate book your scholar reads, their name will be placed into a drawing for the chance to win a brand-new bicycle and helmet. The more your scholar reads, the more chances they have to win! This year’s Bikes for Books program will be held from October 18th through November 12th and is open to all scholars in first through fifth grades.

The program is simple:
1) Fill out and sign a ticket for every age appropriate book your scholar reads.
2) Submit the tickets to your teacher.
At the end of the program your teacher will turn in your scholar’s tickets to be entered into the drawing.

The winners of the drawing from each grade will be presented their new bicycle and helmet during a
school assembly at a later date.

Remember: The more you read, the more chances you have to win!

There is a permission slip that will go home with your scholar's teachers.  Your teachers will also have the tickets that need to be filled out for every book read.

TARDY REMINDERS

Tardy Reminders!!!

Teachers and scholars depend on the structure and routines of the day. Leman Academy  of Excellence policy emphasizes the importance of each scholar being in the classroom for the entire period, as well as arriving on time to school every day.

In our school, instructional time is viewed as a precious resource. Consequently we view chronic tardiness as a serious problem.  When scholars are absent or tardy these routines are disrupted.  Scholars who are late or absent have trouble settling in and mastering routines.  Tardiness can upset their morning and even their entire day.  Scholars often find themselves trying “to catch up” from their absence, and teachers must stop the class to recount the expectations of the day to the scholar.  To minimize these disruptions to instructional time, scholars need to be present in their classrooms by the official start of their school day.

If your scholar is tardy to school you are required to walk them into the office and sign them in.  Below are start times for each grade level.  First bell rings 5 minutes prior.

7:45 am 4th-8th grade

8:00 am 2nd-3rd grade

8:15 am - Kinder - 1st grade

Excessive tardies will have letters sent home and/or a meeting will be requested with the Principal.

Thank you for understanding and cooperation.

 Early Pickups

                                                 Early Pick-up/Sign Out

When picking up a scholar early from school for a scheduled appointment parents must come in with a driver's license.  This is how we verify who you are and sign your scholar out.  Even if we know who you are we need your driver's license.

We are also asking parents not to sign your scholars out when there is less than 30 minutes before their release times.

We are also asking parents not to call the office with change of after school pickups.......go to parent pick up instead of transition, etc. when there is less than 30 minutes before their release times.  We are not always able to relay such information on such short notice.
After School Pickup
Each grade level has a designated pickup spot.  Please see below.
Kinder, 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 8th grades are picked up in front of the Front Office
1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th grades are picked up by the flagpole.

Release times are as follows:  (Please do not be early for pick up as it may slow down the traffic flow).
Kinder (1/2 day) - 12:15 pm
Kinder (full day) & 1st grade - 2:45 pm
2nd & 3rd grade - 2:30 pm
4th & 5th grade - 2:15 pm
6th, 7th, & 8th grade - 3:00 pm

Remember every Wednesday is an Early Release day and everyone except 1/2 day Kinder gets out an hour earlier.

If you have multiple children they will all get picked up at the latest release time.  For example, if you have a 1st grader and a 4th grader:  Your 4th grader will wait for their 1st grade sibling in "Transition" and both will get picked up at the Flagpole at 2:45.
Traffic Reminder
The main entrance to Leman Academy is on the West side of the campus, off of Marianne Dr.
When dropping off your scholars in the morning please be sure to do the entire loop through the drop off line and drop them off at the curb.  Do not drop them off half way through.

Traffic Reminder

When exiting the parking lot on Marianne Dr. please DO NOT make a left hand turn.  Right hand turns only! Turning left causes traffic flow to back up.
Marianne Drive is the only entrance to Leman Academy.  The parking lot is one way only. Please follow the arrows.

Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Snacks & Lunches
Snacks
There is a snack time for all scholars during the day.  Please send them with a snack daily. This includes half-day Kindergarten. Please separate snacks from lunches as sometimes this confuses the scholar and they will sometimes eat their lunch at snack time

Lunches

If you are not ordering lunches from dishes2U please remember to send a sack lunch daily.

We do not have a microwave for scholar's use.  Please do not send any food that needs to be warmed up in a microwave.
ParentVUE

Leman Academy of Excellence is GOING GREEN!  We are pursuing more environmentally friendly practices.  To become more ecologically responsible, Leman Academy will not print Report Cards or Progress Reports.  When you enrolled your scholar you created a ParentVue Account which will allow you access to your scholar’s grades!  From there, you may print out a report card if you wish to have a hard copy. A final hard copy will be filed into their permanent Cumulative file at the end of the school year.

If you are having any trouble logging on to your ParentVUE account, please try these tips first.

1) use the exact URL address. 90% of the time, this has been the issue: https://az-lae.edupoint.com/login_pxp.aspx If you just try to Google it, you will end up on some other district's account and your key will show inactive.

2) Make sure that you are entering your username and password exactly.  They are case sensitive.

3) Finally, please remember to write down your username and password. Forgotten login credentials are the second biggest problem. If you try these tips, this will solve the problem 99% of the time. And remember, if you still need help, please email Liz Tuggle at etuggle@lemanacademy.org
