- From Margaret -

So much of the past 18 months has been frenetic, with plans made then changed, then cancelled, then rescheduled.  Lots of worry and concern for not only personal health but that of our families, friends, colleagues, students, neighbors, and learning how to navigate all of the new things we have encountered since COVID hit and stay sane while doing it. For us at the theatre, we had Plan A, then B, C, D. . . I think we're on Plan L about now. Lot's of "Who's on first?" . . . "What??" . . . and "Nooooooooo!" Things we didn't even know to anticipate due to COVID - and everything that comes with it - have popped up or thwarted our efforts, as I know you have experienced in your own lives. Still, we carry on, and we're creating some pretty amazing theatre in the process, even though it's still different and at times, uncertain.

It occurred to me while helping a former season member with tickets to this weekend's show that many of you may still have extra tickets that weren't used in the 2019-20 season, and you might be thinking "Wonder why Margaret hasn't offered me complimentary tickets to Fahrenheit 451 when I never got to see it in April 2020?" And you might even be a little miffed at me. And if you are, I sincerely apologize. The short answer is that it didn't occur to me (re: the above Plan L.) I simply forgot that a year and a half ago, we were having a specific conversation and now, we know a lot more than we did then. And we're still not back to "normal." For a longer answer. . .

At the time we cancelled the original run, we thought we'd be back in business by August, that we'd be able to offer Fahrenheit in the 2020-21 season, that we'd have full houses, and COVID would be a memory. And oh, how that didn't pan out so well! When we were able to open back up to off-campus guests in the late winter and spring of 2021, we offered complimentary tickets to you, our previous years' Season Members, for both Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery and All I Needed to Know  I Learned in Kindergarten, as well as free access to both of those shows online. Many of you were able to attend or watch online and many were not, some because you were not yet comfortable returning to The Haid due to COVID. So. . . . a looooooooonnnngggg eighteen months after we first tried to offer Fahrenheit 451, followed by a no-go for the very uncertain 2020-21 season, then three different sets of dates for this current season's attempt, my offer to you for complimentary tickets just got lost in the shuffle. Pandemic brain is a real thing.

If you'd like to come see the show tonight or tomorrow - even if you can't join us as a Season Member this year - please email me at  AbbeyPlayers@bac.edu with your preferred performance. I would love to have you join us! Seating options are limited due to half-capacity and social distancing, but I'll do the very best I can. If you can't come to the show, please email me anyway and let me now how you're doing? And I'd be happy to have you join us for any show this season, at no charge. Again, it's AbbeyPlayers@bac.edu

Til we meet again!
