Canadian Carp Society Newsletter #7

Welcome to the CCS Newsletter for October 2021

September has been a little different around the Canadian Carp Society. We slowed down a bit on content and competitions to allow members a chance to get out and enjoy their sessions. Sometimes it's nice to slow down and enjoy the sport we all share the same passion for without the added stress of competing and showing off your skills.

What is coming later this year? We have a lot of podcasts and articles ready to publish to the site. Paul Ferritto's "Seven Deadly Sins Of Carp Fishing" articles have been well received, and his final article of the series will be coming soon. Also coming soon, John Bulmer has recorded a podcast with Co-Founders Nathan and Wayne.

Canadian Carp Society on Social Media

Although we have our own dedicated social platform for members only, we do share some content to our accounts on other social networks to aid in the growth of Carp Angling in North America.

Instagram

Did you know that the CCS Instagram account is followed by over 1000 people? We were pretty surprised that this happened so quickly. Many thanks to those behind the scenes that help us manage and grow our social following; you do a great job. It is a fantastic resource to share what Canada has to offer to the rest of the world. If you wish your catches to be shared and possibly reach a larger audience, please don't hesitate to reach out to us and submit them. We love to show off all the hard work our members are putting in on the bank.

YouTube

The Canadian Carp Society YouTube Channel is still in its infancy, and we haven't been able to dedicate as much time as we'd like to it. We look forward to some downtime in the winter months to double down on video and written content. We have some exciting projects underway which will help growth on YouTube in 2022.

Facebook

We try not to focus on Facebook all that much as most know we have our own dedicated "Member Only" social platform. We are happy to report that with the recent crash of Facebook, Instagram, and What's App, the Canadian Carp Society Social Platform retained 100% uptime. Our presence on Facebook is more of an educational source for users searching for Carp Angling in Canada. We enjoy showcasing great catches and landscapes from across the country.

The 2021 Challenge Series was a huge success. Here's a snippet from Round 3.

The American Carp Society

We really enjoy seeing all the success and growth the American Carp Society is having to the south of us. To aid in the growth of the sport and to acknowledge the great work they are doing we reached out to see if we could help with their Mill Creek Cup Event  (a tournament for ACS Members hosted in Canton, Texas). They were very grateful that we offered a few free Canadian Carp Society Memberships to the top teams in this year's event. Be sure to give the ACS a follow on Social Media to follow the event in early November this year.

Secret Achievements Competition - Congrats to Dave Pendlebury for being the "First to Catch and Post a Fish in Fall" on the CCS Platform. This leaves only one Secret Achievement left for the 2021 Year. Will someone be able to win it?!

Photo Competition - Congrats to Galen Yerex for winning the Photo of the Month Contest for the Month of August. The scenic pod shot will be a great addition to the CCS 2022 Calendar.

Sun Care Give Away - Entry Closed / Draw Coming Soon.

Canadian Carp Society Events

SSF Team Event - As we are a little late with this newsletter, we are currently in the middle of our Fall SSF Team Event. It has been an exciting event, with some incredible captures being submitted daily. PBs have been broken, and it's great to see the effort some of the teams are putting in. The Leaderboard is changing each day drastically, with teams leapfrogging back and forth. It has turned out to be quite an exciting event and we look forward to writing up a full recap in next month's newsletter.

Canadian Carp Society Member Benefits

For those who aren't aware, we have some great benefits from those that support and partner with the CCS. No matter where you are in the world if you are a CCS Member you have access to these benefits.

The off-season in winter can be a slow time for carp anglers. We hope these deals will save members a bit of money while providing that much-needed carpy fix in the colder months. Be sure to check this section often if you're a member. As we grow in numbers, so too will the benefits we can offer our membership.

Behind the Scenes at the Canadian Carp Society

There is a lot going on behind the scenes at the Canadian Carp Society. We are a member-driven community and love the fact that so many members are stepping forward to provide content such as articles and videos to share and grow awareness of the sport we are so passionate about. If you have any ideas or input please do not hesitate to reach out.

We have grown consistently in both membership and content thus far and we plan to continue. We are looking to partner with more great companies and brands in hopes of bringing more awareness to catch and release carp angling here in North America. Stay tuned to the "News" section for more updates as these partnerships progress.

Remember if you're reading this and not yet a member, be sure to follow the Canadian Carp Society on social media. We regularly post about Canadian Carp Fishing on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
