Thanksgiving updates from

The Animal Guardian Society

Wags for TAGS Walk/Run/Roll-athon!

As we share Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends we are pleased to announce our 'Thanks for Giving' WAGS for TAGS Walk - running all October long! There's two ways you can participate:

  • Register as a participant, walk/run/roll whenever and wherever is convenient for you, and invite your friends, neighbours, family and co-workers to pledge your efforts. You can even register as a team!

All participants get a grab bag of goodies and a shot at some great prizes!

    or...

  • Pledge someone who is walking/running/rolling for TAGS!

Since COVID hit, fundraising has been a struggle - combine that with rising vet costs, and more animals in need. Our goal is to try and raise a combined $20,000. It's a lot, but you can help us get there!

Donations raised will directly support veterinary care for our animals - this is by far our largest annual expense. This includes everything from vaccinations, spaying and neuters, to specialized treatment such as surgeries.

As the first established animal rescue program in Durham Region, now running for 34 years, our volunteers are committed to changing the lives of animals in need. We rescue animals from right here in Durham Region, out of province, and as many of you know our northern dog project is a very important part of our program. Please help us continue this important work.

Featured Adoptables

Connor is all kitten, full of energy, non-stop playing, getting into mischief, chasing his foster sister all over the place - but he’s also the sweetest cuddle bug. Read more about this cutie who is looking for a home in Durham Region!
Sassy and Ally's owner sadly passed away and they are looking for a forever family. These sweet girls can be adopted as a pair or separately. Thank you Kit'N'Ka-Poodle for their recent haircuts!

Read more about them.
Titan is an all-around good-natured dog who is easy going and loves playtime and walks. He loves belly rubs and playing ball.

Here's more details on Titan.

Chatterpaul's x The Animal Guardian Society

Join us for dinner at Chatterpaul's and help support our rescue!

For $85 (tax and gratuity INCLUDED!) you get an appetizer, main course (choice of beef, chicken or vegetarian), dessert and coffee/tea.

Possibly more exciting than the food is the premium prizes up for grabs in a silent auction and raffle. We’ll leave some surprises but they include Elton John concert tickets, diamond jewelry, dinners at local restaurants, dinner for 4 with a Chatterpauls chef in your home, massages, a John Tavares Jersey and more.

Not many tickets are available due to COVID dining protocols so your chances are EXCELLENT!

Grab a few friends and make a night out of it while you help animals at the same time.

New additions at TAGS

We're still getting to know some of these pups, or we're getting them healthy and ready for their forever homes, so they aren't available for adoption just yet — but we wanted you to see the newest members of the TAGS family!

This adorable girl is a northern dog from Manitoba (thank you to all the flight sponsors who helped us pay for her ticket here!) and has a congenital disfigurement of her front leg. She is otherwise healthy and the friendliest little thing!
Breanne is a four year old Australian Shepherd who is pictured here on her freedom ride - we took her in from a farm where she was used a a breeding dog, producing four litters in her four years. She lived outside 24/7. Read more about her here.

Volunteers needed!

We're looking for new volunteers to help with our rescue! If you have a few hours to spare, or can open your home to animals in need, you can make a difference with TAGS!
