School News

No School for Students

October 15th and 18th

These dates are set aside for parent/teacher conferences. Your student's teacher should have communicated with you to schedule conferences. Reach out to them directly if you still need to schedule one.

Healthy Start Times Resolution Update

Last spring, the Board of Education passed a Healthy Start Times resolution to have all middle and high schools (district-managed and charters) start no earlier than 8:20 a.m. to support healthy sleep habits in adolescents. These new start times will begin in the school year 2023-24, not 2022-23 as originally planned. DPS is committed to working closely with our community to make this transition as safe and seamless as possible.

The Healthy Start Times webpage will house all relevant information including FAQs, community engagement events, and resources for families. The first community engagement event is planned for early November. If you have questions, please call our Family and Community Helpline at 720-423-3054 or email facehelpline@dpsk12.org.

Kindergarten and Elementary School Choice and Tours

If you have an incoming Kindergartener or know of a new incoming family, please check out our tour schedule sign-up. Choice will be open this year from Jan 15th through Feb 15th. These tours are designed for new and/or incoming Kindergarten/Elementary families.

For general Choice information, please refer to the DPS School Choice page: https://schoolchoice.dpsk12.org/

For questions please contact: schooltoursbillroberts@gmail.com

Cafeteria

Please help welcome Mina, who recently arrived in the US from Afghanistan, to our kitchen staff. She joins Yvonne, the kitchen manager, Nancy and Michel. We are so happy to have her!

The kitchen staff asks that you please remind your students, if they want a hot lunch, to order it from their teacher first thing in the morning. We are a scratch-made kitchen, so it is important that only the children who order lunches, take lunches. With the current national supply chain issues, it is even more difficult to make adjustments throughout the day.

Halloween Drawing Class

October 26th at 6pm

Get your costume on and your pencils ready as Mr. E will be hosting a very spooooky drawing class on Tuesday, October 26th at 6pm.

He will be reading some Halloween favs, leading guided drawing, and ending with some fun Halloween trivia. There is no cost, and the best part is the whole family can join in the fun! Mici will be hosting Bill Roberts Eat & Give, so order your pizza and settle in for a fun-filled family evening!

Virtual High School Showcase for 8th Graders and Families
October 21st, 5-7:30pm

We will be participating in McAuliffe's Virtual High School Showcase this year. While this may overlap with conferences, we know there is a lot of interest out there for an event like this. From 5-5:45pm BR families will have the opportunity to talk to recent BR graduates about their new schools. From 5:45-7:30pm we will join presentations from high schools all over the area. If you are even just thinking about attending, please RSVP here to be sent links and updates for the event. Click here for more information about the event and to access forms to share questions with schools ahead of time.
