A Message From the High School Coordinator

Every Little Piece Counts!

Most people know that I have a real love of Lego. Partly because it's a reminder of my childhood, partly because I'm still a big kid at heart, and partly because it's just really cool (at least I think so!) But one of the main things I love about Lego these days is how much it can teach us about so many things. The first thing is having patience and attention to detail.  I love how systematic and logical Lego is - following instructions and seeing everything come together piece by piece is...

Reading Groups
If you were to pop your head into Year 1 any morning of the week you would see busy, clever little readers. We read decodables, complete worksheets and work on our comprehension. We listen to each other read, consolidate the learning we have done with our sounds and complete our work with excellence. In Year 1 Reading Groups is a valuable time of learning. We love it!
Year 4's Movie Afternoon
Our Year 4 students finally got to receive their prize for winning the school mufti dress up day from Term 3, where they had to dress up to a theme of TEAM or anything starting with the letter,  "T"
The reward was given to them last Tuesday afternoon with the students watching a movie called "Luca". They had popcorn, lollies and chips and got to lay on the bean bags with their classmates whilst watching the movie.
According to Year 4,"It was the best afternoon ever!"  The movie was very entertaining and the students had a blast!
Healthy Eating
Year 7 Tech boys have continued their unit on 'Healthy Eating' during lockdown and into Term 4. They were asked to cook at home and then began this term with a cooking lesson where they made fruit kebabs. There was so much fruit and the boys were excited to make their own kebabs and try new fruits.
Rocket League
On Friday 8 October,  6 students participated in the first CSSA interschool esport competition featuring the game Rocket League. Rocket League is a game where 2 teams of 3, control cars and try to score goals like soccer. PCS fielded two teams, MCU Bandits and Rockit Yeah. MCU Bandits was made up of captain Liam Freeman, Riley Sterland and Charlie Cowie, with Rockit Yeah having Joshua King as captain, with Eric Peterson and Thomas Fredericks finishing the line up. The competition was tough for both teams, with MCU bandits losing their first three games to win their last two, and Rockit Yeah winning three out of their five initial games. Due to their strong performance and excellent communication, Rockit Yeah progressed through to the finals, winning their first bracket, but losing their second bracket. Out of the 47 teams that competed on the day, MCU Bandits finished 34th and Rockit Yeah finished 8th. It was a fantastic day for the boys that competed, showing that communication was the biggest factor in Rockit Yeah's success. We look forward to competing in future esports competitions, and if you are interested in competing, please talk to Mr Brown or Mr Ballantyne.
