Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• PVCC Career Services' Office and the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce Rising Professionals Group are hosting an informal, educational networking event to help students/alumni learn about their career fields AND/OR get help with their job search whether geared toward resume or cover letter feedback or a mock interview. These professionals can share information about the following fields: Consulting, Project Management, Government, Non-profit or Healthcare Administration, Digital Marketing, Finance, Financial Services, Human Resources, Science Start-up, National Security/Intelligence, Technology and Real Estate.  It's easy to sign up for one-on-one assistance on Thursday, October 28 between 3-5pm in PVCC's Bolick Student Center. You can talk with multiple professionals (be sure to sign up on a different time slot to not double-book yourself).
• Virginia Career Works is hosting a virtual Building Your Soft Skills workshop led by Mary Grant on Tuesday, October 12 at 2pm.  On Thursday, October 14 from 1-3pm, they host their virtual Employer of the Week to connect with local employers. 
• HCA Hospitals is hosting a Henrico Doctors Hospital RN Hiring Event on Tuesday, Oct. 12 between 4:30-7pm at Brambly Park Winery.  RSVP required.
• Attention Information Technology Students who want to get paid to travel the world!  The U.S. State Dept. Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship (FAIT) is hosting a virtual information session on Thursday, October 14 at 2pm about what their program offers (up to $75,000 in academic funding plus two summer paid internships)!!
• Whole Foods is hosting a Hiring Event on Thursday, October 14 from 9am-3pm.  Their pay starts at $15/hour. They are hiring cashiers, in-store shoppers, meat / produce / seafood / grocery / specialty / whole body team members, prepared foods, and bakery. 
• Wintergreen will be hosting two Hiring Events at Stoney Creek Golf Course on Saturday, October 16, 11am-3pm and Monday, October 18, 1-5pm. They hire people ages 16+. Positions include a human resources internship, cosmetologist, cooking, dining services (bartenders average $25/hour and servers average $18/hour PLUS benefits!), facilities/land maintenance, ski patrol, attendants for their golf courses, terrain park, tubing, ski lifts, etc. and MORE!

• If you missed last Wednesday's job fair at PVCC, the following employers were there to help people find jobs in multiple areas: Goodwin William Staffing, Qualified Staffing, Robbins Staffing.  The following employers have positions geared toward Education / Human Services: Piedmont VA Community College (all positions start at $15/hour), Region Ten CSB (positions start at $15/hour), STARS Therapeutic Service, Compass Behavioral Solutions (paying $17-21/hour!) and Piedmont Family YMCA (paying $13+/hour).  The following employers have positions for people who want to work with other people in a healthcare capacity:  Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail, AT Home Care Staffing, Brightstar Care of Charlottesville, Commonwealth Senior Living, Commonwise Home Care, Loving Arms Care (check out this great video they did of the job fair!), The Colonnades, UVA Health System, Wintergreen Fire and Rescue. The following employers have positions for people who want to work with other people in a hospitality or retail setting: Chick-fil-A Woodbrook, Food & Beverage Restaurant Management, Food Lion, L.L.Bean, Keswick Hall, Plow & Hearth, The Melting Pot, Thompson Hospitality, Three Notch'd Brewing Co., Trump Winery, Waffle House, Wintergreen Resort (be sure to take advantage of their hiring events this week!), Farmington Country Club, Morrison Healthcare/Compass Group.  The following employers have positions for people who want to work with other people in a criminal justice capacity: Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail, Chesterfield Co. Police Dept.

• The Arc of the Piedmont seeks candidates to help people with disabilities as a Direct Support Professional paying $13-15/hour.
• Commonwealth Senior Living seeks *four* Resident Care Associates - they will pay for you to become a CNA or PCA! They are also offering up to $500 sign-on bonus. They also seek part-time dining service associates.
• The American Red Cross is hiring for an Experienced Phlebotomist in Charlottesville. They also seek Volunteers which is a GREAT way to add to your resume to make you more competitive for jobs *and* getting into PVCC's healthcare programs.
• Piedmont Family YMCA needs a part-time evening Building Supervisor (seems like a security position) to work 6-9:30pm, M-F with paying $16-18/hour. They also posted a full-time (with benefits!) Membership Representative position that works M-F, 11am-7pm paying $12-13/hour and a part-time Yoga Group Exercise Instructor position that pays $23-30/hour on College Central Network - a job listing open to all to use.
• Qualified Staffing seeks candidates for a full-time Teaching Assistant position that pays $15/hour. They also posted on CCN a Temporary Executive Assistant position that pays $29-36/hour for those of you with strong administrative skills!
• U.S. Cellular is currently searching for talented and passionate individuals to join their team as Retail Wireless Sales Consultants - Full Time. $2000 sign-on bonus!!

• UVA Community Credit Union is seeking a current (or incoming Spring 2021) PVCC student to represent them on campus! Tentative Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• At last Wednesday's job fair at PVCC, the following employers help people find jobs in multiple areas: Goodwin William Staffing, Qualified Staffing, Robbins Staffing. The following employers have positions for people who want to work in administrative, accounting or creative positions: Charlottesville Radio Group, General Dynamics Shared Resources, Monticello Media (PT News, PT Board-op, Digital Marketing and Advertising/Sales), Park Properties Management, Wyant Insurance & Financial Services (including paid internships!)
• Lee Construction Group has a number of positions including a paid Graphic Design / Marketing Internship and Construction Project Management Internship for Summer 2022. The starting pay is $15/hour (potentially more depending on experience). They also seek a full-time Accounting Specialist.
• Hantzmon & Wiebel posted on CCN their hiring of Spring Tax Return Preparers to work from mid-February through early April 2022. Part-time (at least 25 hours/week) and full-time options are available.  Or check out their website. 
• Wyant Insurance & Financial Services has a number of jobs in Cville: Paid Interns ($10-20/hour), Staff Assistant, Customer Relations Rep, Account Manager, and Telemarketer.
• Appalachian Voices is a nonprofit advocacy organization that brings people together to protect the land, air, and water of Central and Southern Appalachia and advance a just transition to a clean energy economy. They are seeking a full-time Media Specialist with paying $50-60,000. Apply by 10/15.
• WorldStrides has an Account Support Rep opening. An associate's degree OR experience is required.
• Bankers Insurance seeks a full-time Office Assistant/Receptionist.
• Attention Louisa Co. residents who love being in the library, there is a part-time branch support staff position that pays $11.64 - $15.13 Hourly. Apply by 10/22.
• PSI Services seeks a part-time Test Center Administrator. P/T-$10/hr.  Schedule: Tues, Wed, Thurs, & Fri: 8am-2pm Role: This position assists in the administration of numerous tests and exams while maintaining a secure testing environment. Paid training is provided.
• Apex Clean Energy has a Payroll Manager opening if you have at least 6+ years of payroll experience.
• Generation 180 is hiring for two Program Manager positions - Electrify your Ride and Solar for All Schools. Both pay between $50-70,000. Five plus years of experience are needed (and a bachelor's degree for the Solar for All Schools position).

• SHINE Systems seeks a part-time OR full-time entry-level Tier I IT Help Desk staff member paying $15/hour. This position would maintain and do upgrades of computer systems, respond to IT issues and assist with onboarding new users. Email Seth Moyers at  smoyers@Shinesystems.com to apply. 
• Lee Construction Group has a number of positions including paid CAD/BIM Internship, a Construction Project Management Internship, and a Safety Internship, all for Summer 2022 with a starting pay of $15/hour (potentially more depending on experience).
• UVA's Miller Center seeks a Web Developer/Administrator to contribute to the ongoing work of its website. Note that 3 years of experience counts in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Be sure to write a cover letter and submit your references for this position (which is recommended for most positions!).
• Apex Clean Energy seeks a ROCC Operator. You would need the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate IT issues. The Operations Center is a 24/7 operation. This is a (2-2-3) rotating shift assignment. Nights, Weekends, overtime, and Holiday work is required. You would need to be passionate about renewable energy.
• If you have at least five years of project management experience in a technical setting, OpenSource Connections has an IT Project Manager opening.
