Living in Florida can really get tiresome for a person who loves every color in the rainbow. Popular designers like Lily Pulitzer, Vera Bradley and similar print resort styles have never hung in my closet. So is it any wonder that the Fall palette is one of my favorites? I love the khaki greens, marigolds, oranges and browns that we often see in the months of October, November and even into December. I recently went to an apparel show featuring fashions for the Fall and Winter. Much to my dismay, many of the vendors catering to the South Florida boutiques were featuring the resort fashions. Really? Do we have to wear them all year 'round because we have tourists? Maybe that is why I am drawn to the designs from California and Canadian fashion houses. Or my favorite Miami designer (below, right). Hearts Desire features unique, wearable-art fashions.

As anyone who follows my newsletters knows, my family believes in vaccines and science. The biggest concerns I have had were for the health and safety of my grandchildren who were too young to be vaccinated. My husband and I and our tech savvy daughter strived and got us "old and vulnerable folks" vaccinated last January because we believed that it was our civic responsibility and in the best interests of our health to do so. My daughters and husbands lined up as soon as they were eligible. But the bravest one of all in our family was our 5-year old grandson who recently participated in Pfizer's children vaccine trials.
