A Story for Our Time

Dear <<First Name>>,

As you know, we’re raising funds for a video story project that is especially relevant for the church at this time. With the release of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, a future of increasingly extreme weather appears to be a reality. And it is in communities that can least afford mitigation where the burden of climate change will fall the heaviest. That’s why Christians in North America need to hear the story of Hunting Park, PA.

Heeding God’s call to care for the vulnerable, people of faith in Hunting Park are fighting against environmental injustice with a practical blueprint that can be implemented in other communities:

  • Clean Energy Education - Churches and faith-based organizations are working together to provide job training in solar panel production
  • Fighting Extreme Heat - With summer heat wave temperatures averaging 22°F hotter than other parts of Philadelphia, churches in Hunting Park are providing cooling stations for neighbors, and actively working on reforestation and community garden initiatives to provide long-term heat mitigation.
  • Investing in Energy Savings - Extreme heat coupled with poorly insulated homes means that residents of Hunting Park face high energy costs. Faith-based activists are working to reduce this energy burden through weatherizing homes and opening up access to clean energy alternatives.
  • Creating Opportunities for Advocacy - Through our Faith in Action training program, Hunting Park residents have increased opportunity to advocate effectively with their elected officials.

The Hunting Park story is one that needs to be told. But your help is vital! We need to raise $9,000 to make this project happen.

If you can make a donation of any amount it will help us pay for the production and development of this faith-based climate action series. Let’s share this practical vision of how Christians CAN make a difference for environmental justice in their communities.
