Or maybe you are just looking for someone to talk to about your research.If you answered yes to any of these questions, we are happy to announce the opportunity to participate in a mentorship program with UWaterloo's Douglas Wright engineer-in-residence, Erin Mahoney. Erin has generously extended her invitation to host one-on-one mentorship meetings with engineering graduate students to members of SWIGS. This meetings will hold on Fridays over the fall 2021 semester. You may book a session by filling out thisgoogle sheets document. Please, endeavor to fill out the form before noon the day before your requested session; you will then be sent the necessary information to have your meeting on teams. CWP Now Represented at GSA Council
SWIGS is excited to announce that, starting this year, the Collaborative Water Program (CWP) will have a concillor in the university Graduate Student Association (GSA) Council.
For this school year, the current CWP-SWIGS liaison, Kevin B. White will be the GSA council representative. If you have any concerns or questions to be raised at the GSA council, please reach out to Kevin (kevin.white@uwaterloo.ca; Twitter @Kevin_B_White).

A paper published in Water Research on October 1st, 2021 has cited the University of Waterloo's Collaborative Water Program as an example of innovative doctoral programs in interdisciplinary water studies. The study outlines concrete actions for students, supervisors, research groups, industry and universities can take to modernize doctoral education in water research. Please refer to the article here:
Are you Interested in careers in Federal government? Then get ready for the first Blue Drinks event of the school year, in November. We are delighted to have Dr. Gary Sonnichsen from Natural Resources Canada share his work experience as a federal employee and provide insights on the job application process. New SWIGS Executive: Arisha Imran
The SWIGS Executive Team would like to announce that the following candidate has expressed interest in joining the committee in outreach role. Please provide us with your feedback regarding this appointment. Candidate Profile: Arisha is an MSc student in the Department of Biology and a member of the WATER research lab group, where she studies lakes in the Peace-Athabasca Delta in northern Alberta. Her work focuses on using water isotope and water chemistry data to explore flooding and drying trends in the delta. She is passionate about fieldwork and making science accessible to the general public. As a new member of SWIGS, she is excited to engage with the students and the community to raise awareness about water concerns and the importance of water conservation.
