All Units should plan to recharter renewal via the National Internet Charter Renewal System by December 15 to allow time for processing before the end of the year. This year's process can be completed online, including payment of National fees ad Scout Life subscriptions.
GOOD NEWS THIS YEAR! There is no access code necessary to login to the system. Simply head over to https://advancements.scouting.org/ , log in with your normal my.scouting.org/scoutbook credentials, click on “rechartering”, and away you go. From this portal you check your members who are renewing, and submit! You also have the option to pay online. It’s that simple.
MORE GOOD NEWS: There is no “paper” necessary this year. Simply complete the process online. Your Chartered Representative will also have the opportunity to approve it once completed. Your District Professional will set a meeting with your institutional head to collect the annual chartering agreement.
PROTIP: Add all your new members and check for youth protection expirations BEFORE starting the online recharter process. Be sure to take advantage of BSA’s online applications and roster management tools through my.scouting.org. This way – when you log on to do your re-charter, your only job will be taking off the inactive members.
WE’RE IN A METHODIST UNIT – DO WE STILL RECHARTER? Yes! The BSA and Methodist Church have agreed to extend existing Charter Agreements through March 31st, while both parties work to resolve matters related to BSA’s financial restructuring. What does this mean for your unit? You will still need to do the rechartering process as normal and on time. The only difference is that you will NOT be charged the $75 unit fee typically associated with recharter. That fee has been postponed until March 31st. All other rechartering activities, including check Youth Protection certificates, reregistering, and paying for all youth and adults, will continue as normal.
