GREATER MANCHESTER GREEN SUMMIT
Some of the SLH team joined the Summit on 18th October at The Lowry. Andy Burnham outlined the aims for the region to become carbon neutral by 2038 - 12 years ahead of the national target. With representatives from all sections of society, it was inspiring to hear about all the exciting things going on in the northwest, although, of course, we always expect more!

HEATONS LIBRARY CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT FEATURE
We are delighted that the staff at The Heatons library have worked with SLH to pull together a collection of books that are truly the flavour of the month! We understand that the new display will be ready for viewing and browsing soon, so keep your eye on those library displays. We'll give you the tip off when we hear it's in place.
HEDGE MAINTENANCE
Hedge sessions are on the third Sunday of each month, and next will be Sunday 21st November 10am to 12 noon. To maintain our ancient hedge, we clear the area on either side, pick litter, and do all we can to help it to thrive. In October we planted lots of bulbs so watch for them growing in spring 2022!
Wear sturdy shoes and long sleeves and bring gloves, secateurs, shears and a trowel if you have them, although we will come with some equipment. The hedge is between Priestnall allotments and the recreation field, on the lane that links Trentham Avenue (SK4 3QD) and Mersey Road.
Everyone is welcome to pop along for as long as you wish. Contact info@slheatons.org if you want to know more.
HEATON MERSEY VILLAGE GARDEN
The gardening team meet to maintain this delightful small space on the fourth Tuesday and the second Sunday of the month 10.30am to 12.30pm, even in the winter! Heaton Mersey Village Garden is opposite the set of shops that includes McColls and The Good Life, and next to the Sea Scouts hut and the car park on Didsbury Road. Bring gloves and small tools if you have them, although the team come with some equipment. More information from info@slheatons.org
The team would love to see any new faces and everyone is welcome to join in.
