Exploring with Curiosity

On the water's edge of False Creek and off the beaten path of Granville Island, stands a small building - the Silk Weaving Studio.  It is often with curiosity that people step into our world. The colorful window display has caught their eyes or they are intrigued by one of our weavers working at the loom. Either way, once inside, the explorations continue for there is much to discover.

In the spirit of that curiosity, we’re launching our first newsletter to share with you the uniqueness of the studio as a working space and a gallery. In the upcoming issues, we will explore new ideas and feature various artists while we engage in the narrative of the studio history.  After all, the Silk Weaving Studio has been occupying this tiny building for over 35 years.

Collaboration

At the Silk Weaving Studio we are very excited to be collaborating with our new neighbor Serenity West. They make timeless linen pieces that compliment our work beautifully.
In November and December, you will find on display their garments paired with some of our weaving in both of our stores. Come and have a look at our creations.

Sale on Junichi Design

For the month of November, we are offering 20% off on our Junichi design.  Made of silk and wool, it is the perfect piece for winter.

The design is available as a scarf, a shawl or a poncho in a multitude of colours and with some variations.

Curious about the name and the inspiration behind our signature pieces. Find out more about one of the most innovative textile artists of our time - Junichi Arai.

Online Collection

Did you know that our online shop features a new collection every month? The current selection of garments and accessories was inspired by autumnal colors and chosen by Darlene Ochotta.

It features the work of Cathy Joyce, Kate Barber, Terry Sasaki, and the Silk Weaving Studio. Available both online and in store.

Hidden Gem Jewellery

Our gallery features the work of five talented jewellers. In this newsletter, we are showcasing the jewellery of local designer Patrick Johnathan.  His one-of-a-kind pieces are made with the highest craftsmanship.

Terry Sasaki Clothing

For a couple years now, the studio has been carrying a line of clothing designed by Terry Sasaki.

Terry's clothes are comfortable yet stylish, and suit both women and men. We currently have some great jackets of different lengths in stock as well as some shirts and pinstripe vests.
