10,000 Reasons

One of my favourite gospel songs is based on Psalm 104, Bless the Lord O My Soul, sometimes referred to as 10,000 reasons.
The Psalm isn’t really that long and is written by Matt Redman and Jonas Myrin, this song has stirred many people with its melody and lyrics praising the awesomeness of God. There is even a book that has been published about the song and the effect that it has had on many people.

Year 5 STEM
In Year 5, students have been learning engineering and building skills. Throughout Term 3, they explored using paper and cardboard to develop prototypes of their designs, leading to some interesting buildings purposed to withstand earthquakes.
Upon returning to school, students were given a final task to complete as a team: Develop a "marble run" using paper that was wide enough to support a handball. Completing this task required students to be in constant communication with each other. Because of the required size and the amount of individual pieces that needed to be created, teams needed to ensure that everyone was contributing to the project.
After some trial, error and a few redesigns along the way, Year 5 was able to come up with 2 designs that could help the handball travel.
What will they make next?
2022 Primary School Captaincy Applications
The 2022 Primary School Captain application forms have been sent home with Year 5 students.
This form is the first step in your child's captain application. It contains information we have discussed in class. It also contains some questions for your child to answer regarding why they would like to become captain and how they intend to serve our school community in this role.
Please read through this document with your child and discuss the questions and their answers before they complete and sign the application. If you have any questions, please send Mr Denmead an email.
The forms are due back to school by Friday the 12 November.
Jump for Dolly
Laura Rusten has recently, not only completed school and her major work, but she has taken out the annual Teacher/Senior student footy tipping competition.
Each year teachers and students battle each other for supreme footy knowledge. This year Laura was the winner - the first student to take out the competition.
To join the competition each person contributes a donation and nominates their charity that the donations will go to if they win. Laura nominated Dolly's Dream as her charity, and so we are delighted to be able to donate $200 to her Jump for Dolly fundraising campaign. You can see Laura here with her major work, a horse jump she made to contribute to her cause.
You can also support Laura and Dolly's Dream by following the link and making a donation.
Well done Laura!
