Weekly Encouragement

Freedom in Christ

Often I hear from believers that are stuck, unable to find answers, unable to hear God, or dealing with constant spiritual attacks.  The hard part for many of these people is that they feel as though they have done, and are doing all the right things.  Their lives and performance all speak to a life devoted to God that is laid down at the altar of God.  Still, there is something missing from their lives.

Jesus came to set the captive free, and unfortunately, our current western Christianity has reduced freedom to a salvation prayer and a lifestyle.  Those are necessary, and yet many still feel bound and oppressed.  Jesus wants to set you free, and as all mature believers know, God doesn't remove all sins, bondages, strongholds, and deceptions the moment we get saved.

2 Thessalonians 5:23 says, "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

God is sanctifying us as we walk with Christ.  In order to be free from oppression, God invites us into surrender and deliverance.  Freedom is not independence. Freedom is not smooth sailing. Freedom is not working harder. Freedom is allowing God to unwind the places that have been tangled up in your life where the Devil has tried to keep you out of God's perfect will.

At salvation, God heals your broken Spirit.  Your soul and body then must receive the healing that is provided to you by the Spirit working in you to produce His fruit.  God is working in you from the Spirit to the flesh.  At the same time, our whole lives have been marked by the enemy working to destroy your Spirit from the flesh and soul in order to corrupt your Spirit and keep it from wholeness in Christ.   This is the battle many of us have faced, and are facing.

The hope is that in Christ, we can have every bondage, wound, stronghold, and deception we have believed that began through the body and the soul healed as we willfully renounce the lies, forgive the offenders, repent of our part in agreement with sins and lies, and see the chains of the enemy broken in our lives.

We are introducing a powerful Spirit-led ministry to help every believer be set free from the recurring calamity, pain, terror, anxiety, and the sin that has bound us.  We pray that you will join us in going after God, leaving nothing hidden, and see God save, heal, and deliver you!

Stay tuned for more details as we move forward!

Prayer Needs and Updates:

  • Pray for our mission organizations, their families, and their provision.  Celebrate Recovery Nicaragua, Freedom House, Helping Hands Healing Hearts, Idahope Families.
  • Pray for those called to serve in this season with Youth and Kids Ministries.  We are praying for those that have a burden for the youth and a willingness to serve them.
  • Pray for those called to Leadership at HVWC.  We believe that God is raising up mighty men and women of God who will lead others in their pursuit of God.  We know that God is expanding our influence, and those who desire to play a part in the body through leadership should know they are called to it in this season.
We are adopting a mission to Myanmar for Forward Housing to support teen orphans that are abandoned in the social safety net of that society.  We believe God will raise up mighty men and women of God to transform that nation!   Pray on how God wants you to partner this year.
