Worship This Week – All Saints' Observance
Sunday, October 31, 2021
Text: John 11:32-44, Hebrews
All Saints’ Day
Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper

All Saints’ Observance
For all the saints who from their labors rest…

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
 ~Hebrews 12:1-2 (NRSV)

One of the most difficult things about the nearly two years of the pandemic has been the deaths of loved ones. COVID complicated our ability to be with them at the end of their lives and how and when we held public rituals of mourning and celebration.

Our congregation will have an observance of All Saints' Day in worship this Sunday, October 31, including a reading of names of those who have died in the past (approximately) two years and a slideshow of "that great cloud of witnesses."

You are invited to share the names of family members and close friends to be included in this remembrance. Please click on the link below and answer the question. Also, please email a photo to Julia Andrews (music@firstpresmv.com) to be used in the slideshow. Thank you for helping us make this All Saints' observance memorable and meaningful!

ON SITE WORSHIP – MASKING GUIDELINES
Currently, the CDC recommends that vaccinated people wear masks indoors in areas experiencing substantial or high transmission. Linn County is designated High Transmission by the CDC.

Please wear a mask during the service, even if you have been fully vaccinated. This applies to worship and other activities in the building. We will continue to watch the transmission rate carefully.  At their October 13 meeting, the Session decided to restore singing throughout the worship service.

Thank you for your cooperation and caring! The live stream of the service will continue. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact a member of Session or Pastor Lori (lori.wunder@firstpresmv.com)
