Hello There, Beautiful Soul!

That's a wrap. Fund6 has come to a close after ±12 weeks of hard work, iterations, feedback loops, revisions, campaigning, voting, etc.. You did it all - and more!

Town Hall

As always, we held our weekly town hall on Wednesday. Missed it? No worries. Rewatch the recording with timestamps. Too busy to watch the entire thing? Skip over presentation slides for key themes.

One Cohort presentation:

  1. Cardano China Info Hub by Bullish Dumpling (Fund4)

💡 Wish to join live next time? Register now via this link & save the spot already for Nov 3 @ 18:00 UTC and every week following.

Fund6 vote is now closed

I've circulated to you an official results email just yesterday - so I will not go much into details here today. I respect your time. But just so that you know - I would like you to leave with the following thoughts.

Fund6 indeed concluded. 151 projects are going to receive funding & get a chance to prove their merit. Many are feeling euphoric for having their projects funded this time around. Congratulations, well done.

I have also seen some disappointment floating around. To that I tell you - please - don't be disheartened. This is NOT the end. Many projects did not get their funding on the first try. Sometimes not even on the 2nd. What really matters here is taking into account feedback you've collected over the course of past months & incorporating that back into your projects.

Decentralised nature of funding means that there really are no guarantees. However, funding, while important - it is not the only value added here. Make sure to continue working on your proposals & re-submit them for once Fund7 begins. Community rewards those who commit and persevere.

Fund7 is expected to have a purse of $8 million in ada. Which is twice the amount of F6. Set to begin on Nov 11. If you keep iterating on your projects and continue down the path - the likelihood of receiving funding increases greatly. Build reputation and think long term.

Remember - this is NOT the end - this is the beginning. I am/ we are proud of each and every one of you. Path to a decentralised governance isn't easy. Your participation on every end of Project Catalyst is what paves the way forward for Cardano community at large. And I sincerely thank you for taking this journey with us.

Share a feedback - helps us get better

Town hall has shared some great perspectives on feedback from various stakeholder groups within Catalyst Ecosystem. You can check it out via this link. Missed the opportunity to have a say? Not to worry. As always, we would appreciate your thoughts on what went well, what did not go well, and how to get better. Fund6 exit survey is now available.

Thank you for taking time to fill it in in order to help team prioritize features and development based on your input.

Catalyst Circle v2 nominations

Last week, we learned that Catalyst Circle was retiring. Now it's a reality. Time to get involved.

How can you get involved?

Glad you asked. The following seats are now going to rotate their memberships and accept fresh nominations:

  • Funded Proposers
  • Community Advisors
  • Stake Pool Operators
  • Toolmaker and Maintainers
  • General ADA Voters

💫 Deadline to submit the Catalyst Circle (v2) nominations is - October 31st at 23:59 UTC.

Apply or nominate someone via this form for any of the appropriate seats mentioned above.

Unsure what Catalyst Circle is about exactly? It is the very first time that community has had a real voice and chance to lead/participate in determining direction of the ecosystem. The very first steps in founding a true leadership layer for Cardano, the beginning. I invite you to learn more about it via this Cardano Forum post. Or via the introductory blog post by Kriss Baird from earlier this year.

Don't know what are the actual roles & responsibilities of the Catalyst Circle? I encourage you to check Catalyst Circle v2 nomination criteria via this link

Circle Elections - Governance Day

Elections for the Catalyst Circle v2 are expected on Saturday, Nov 6 at 17:00 UTC. Register to participate in this event here.

You will get the chance to

  • Meet the Community Nominees presenting themselves for the second iteration of the Catalyst Circle
  • Participate in conversations around governance
  • Be an active part of governance and vote for your representative.
See you there.

Fund7 innovation timeline

Kind reminder that the plan is to kick start Fund7 with insight sharing stage on Nov 11, 2021. Actual draft proposals are expected to be submitted during Nov 18-25, 2021. Challenges are now announced and you can start deliberating which you wish to address during the upcoming fund. For the full list - please reference the results email from yesterday.

What else is happening?

Have you been to the Eastern Hemisphere Town Hall yet? Maybe you wish to understand what it's like? Here is what took place last week.

In the Vietnam breakout room Tim O'Brien's "Proposal How-to from A-Z" led a discussion on Impact, Feasibility, and Auditability from a CA point of view with specific proposal examples. Fund7 was the focus in the English room where Boban Tomic's preparations for a Fund7 proposal for creating an FMGC distribution network in Africa led the conversation providing ample opportunity to discuss Cardano's features. Thank you for the great conversation, everyone.

UPDATE: ETH team is changing the cadence to meeting every two weeks. Their next meeting will be on the 6th of November. Register here.

Further, Catalyst Swarm is hosting regular Swarm session this Saturday (Oct 30) at 17:00 UTC (register via this link). Topic for this event is: "Governance Archetypes Fund6 results - what's next?"
