“Every child is unique and every child learn differently”

In Special Education students are taught according to their IEP goals. I use many different tools to promote and enhance each child’s learning. It is a pleasure for me to research and discover effective and innovative ways to teach each student by providing them with tools that help them feel more connected and have fun, at the same time.

Admissions Application Opens November 1

Do you know someone interested in KINDERGARTEN AT ISL (2022-2023)?

Families wishing to apply to ISL (Dixon and Westbank Campuses) for Kindergarten 2022-23 school year, use the enrollnola.org common application process. Since we offer 2 language tracks at 3 different campuses, ISL is listed as 5 different “schools,” as follows:

International School of Louisiana:

1) Camp Street Campus (French)

2) Camp Street Campus (Spanish)

3) Dixon Campus (French)

4) Dixon Campus (Spanish)

5) Olivier Street Campus (Spanish)

Please note that only our Dixon Campus and our Westbank Campus serve Kindergarten. Our Uptown Campus serves grades 3-8.

We wanted to let you know that enrollnola.org has posted the Main Round Application Dates on their website as of today with the following information:

The NOLA-PS Common Application or (NCAP) is a unified enrollment process offering students the opportunity to access all New Orleans Public Schools using a single application. Main Round is the term used for the opening or first round of the common application process. It is during this round when schools have the most available open seats for families to fill.

Main Round Application dates:

Opens – 11/1/2021

Closes: 1/21/2022

Message from Nurse Office
Greetings Parents,

Hearing screening this month was a huge success. We were able to screen all of the kindergarten, first graders and most of the second grade. There will be another screening day for vision screens. The company had some damage with hurricane Ida but we are working to add this to the schedule now. Please let me know if you have any concerns and want to make sure your child is screened.

Last week 72 students received flu shots at Dixon campus.  Even with a few tears and nervous stomachs, the students all supported each other while receiving the shot. I am so proud of all our little guys.

As we reach the cold and flu season, prevention of the spread of germs is most important. Reinforce the importance of handwashing and masks with your child. If you are unsure if your child is sick please keep them home and notify me of symptoms. We can work together on deciding the next step.
Thank you so much for all that you do!

Sincerely,
Kim Carbo RN

FREE MEALS FOR STUDENTS

We are asking all families to apply for the federally funded free and reduced school meals program. Even if you think you will not qualify, we ask that you apply. This information is critical to our school’s success and support. The percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced price meals is reported to the state Department of Education.

The free and reduced lunch percentages enable public schools to qualify for other grants and funding opportunities to support families.

As you know, meals are currently free for all students, but that will end. When it ends, we want all qualified students to receive free or reduced prices on our high-quality, healthy school meals.

Please take a few minutes to apply today! JUST 4 EASY STEPS!

Wacky Hat Day
Yesterday, October 26, students and staff participated in Wacky Hat Day. The theme was "Mad Math". Everyone did a get job on their hats. All students will be rewarded next week during Fun Friday.
