Welcome to another local newsletter,
Eudunda is a wonderful place to live, work and play or to visit. We try to give you some of the local news here. There is still so much more news being missed out. You might have a story to tell, seen something worth sharing, want to tell everyone about your organisation or business.
This newsletter could do that for you. Peter Herriman - Editor.
Samuel Doering (Chairperson Eudunda 150th Celebrations) was very pleased to announce that her Excellency the Honorable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia and Mr Rod Bunten will be opening the Eudunda 150 Programme on the Opening Night on the 5th November 2021.
Please note we are currently unable to accept any more ticket reservations to the Opening Night. If you would like to go on the reserve list, should any spaces become available, please contact Samuel Doering on 0477 972 630 as soon as possible. Keep your eye open for further announcements on how you could still be involved.
If you’ve got a piece of photography, a painting, a drawing, or a mosaic, which reflect Eudunda in any way, why not enter our exciting Art Exhibition! Come and drop it off at the Eudunda Hall TODAY until 5pm or 30th October. We have had postal entries too – but timing is getting tight. We have spare entry forms here, so why not have a go! Entrant fee is $5 for up to 5 pieces (you can make multiple entries too) WE HAVE ROOM!
Samuel Doering (Chairperson Eudunda 150th Celebrations) and volunteers helpers Jenny Herriman, Coralie Hambour and Margaret Doecke were very pleased to accept all the Art Entries over the last Friday and Saturday (22nd & 23rd).
Samuel and the volunteers were very excited about the number and quality and variety of entries. They would still like to see lots more, including photos, especially missing at the moment are the Junior classes, “We realise that some younger people may be saving up to put thier photos in the Eudunda Show, and that will certainly be exciting to see too, but we are sure that you will have more photos that you still love and think others will too, so if they have a Eudunda theme or interest why not enter them?” Samuel said.
This year golfers will have a modified event, ONE DAY ONLY! It will be a COVID Safe event – so there will be some changes to how things are done, so that the Club can keep everyone safe.
If you would like to meet up with some of the EX-Eudunda crew who come back especially to have a day remembering thier Dad’s & Mum’s who used to play. You are bound to hear some great stories about the old days and what people got up to. Come Down today and catch up with friends.
For COVID Safe reasons, please only come if you are fit and well and sign in. Tim 0436 323 009; Lynley 0408 638 762; Bistro 0413 218 123

In 2020 Eudunda would have celebrated its 150 years of European settlement but because of COVID 19 this has been delayed. This year there will be a number of activities to remember this special occasion and some of them are combined with the Eudunda Show.
At the show there is a special aggregate prize of $100 for first and $50 for second, being offered by the 150th committee, for exhibitors who are successful in a variety of classes in the pavilion. The full details are available on page 31 of the show book.
Also through out the show book there are special classes in a number of the sections which highlight the 150 celebrations as a theme. These include Art & Craft, Photography and Cookery. Collect your book from one of the local stores or go to the Eudunda Show website where the show book is available as well as entry forms.
The Eudunda Show Committee would like to thank all thier generous sponsors, for without thier help the show would not be the grand event that it has been in the last few years and will continue to be this year. If you need goods and or services why not consider approaching one of our sponsors and acknowledge thier support to the show, we are sure you will get a great deal too.

Food for thought. Facebook and other Social Media platforms have gained incredible growth over the years because they are interactive in that if configured so, they allow people to make comments right on the page (this is quite often the default setting). This can be quite beneficial for the page in that its popularity can grow, especially with many people liking and commenting on a post, with the potential to reach many people.
Some people love to comment on the posts and with most social media this is encouraged by the Admin of the Page or Group, visitors and also the original provider of the Social Media platform such as Facebook. The Admin can control if Commenting are allowed, but they generally like the benefits of comments improving the ‘status or ranking popularity’ of thier page.
The issue comes about when someone posts a bad comment. and after a landmark court decision the Social Media Admin may now also be liable for hosting that comment, and may even risk more with the longer they take to remove that offending post.
An ABC report suggests ‘Facebook pages fall quiet as administrators fear legal action over defamatory comments’
All individual people, organisations and businesses on Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media should become aware of the risks and decide how much control they wish to have over comments on thier sites.
Can you afford to take the risk? You might need deep pockets and lots of your valuable time to defend yourself against someone else’s actions whether you agree with them or not.
