This Wednesday's Board Meeting is an important one!

Over the past weeks, staff at each of our 16 schools gave their input on their top priorities for our first collective bargaining agreement - our first new contract as a union! Our bargaining team used that feedback to draft a bargaining platform to bring to negotiations. This past week, staff voted on that platform as well as electing officers and representatives for vacant positions on the bargaining team. Now, it is time to present our priorities to the HTH Board! At this upcoming board meeting, we will "sunshine" - this means we present our collective priorities, to officially begin negotiations.

How does this platform impact YOU as an educator?

Do you have things you particularly want to protect about our Project Based Learning? Do you have personal examples of why it is crucial to have a qualified teacher and support in every classroom? What would make your working conditions more sustainable and stable? What would equitable pay mean to you as an educator? Show up and share your thoughts and experiences!

Beyond our bargaining platform, this board meeting will also address the emergency funds available to schools via the CARES act. As the board discusses the expenditure plan, and as we begin the process of bargaining a contract, it is extremely important for the board and the public to hear from YOU. Having a union guarantees that teachers have a seat at the table. Now it's time to show up.

Show up, participate, and show your solidarity!

If you wish to speak during public comment, get on the list of speakers by emailing ckip@hightechhigh.org before 4 p.m. on Tuesday. If you would like to share a story or experience but do not feel comfortable speaking publicly, we have people able to read a statement for you. Let us know.
