Meet our Contemporary Faculty
Christine Baxter is our Program Director for this year's Contemporary camps, and is also the host of our Songwriting Intensive!
Christine is a dynamic vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter known for her ability to convey a level of authenticity that reaches into the soul.
As co-founder of the folk/Latin duo Sweet SantaFe Christine and Michel Rivero collaborate together to tour, teach and record original music in Spanish and English translating the rawness of emotions into songs that feel familiar and remain memorable after the first listen.
Quincy Bullen will be spearheading the brand-new Beat Making program!
Quincy Bullen is an accomplished pianist, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist (drums, bass, guitar, Piano) and singer. Extraordinarily talented, with a great sense of timing, Quincy ‘wows’ audiences across Canada, the USA and the Caribbean.
His piano style is jazz with a funky vibe. His repertoire includes his own version of popular standards from jazz, R&B, Pop and soul as well as his original compositions.
Students in this exciting new program will be introduced to the basics of digital music production, with a focus on Hip Hop and EDM. This is the perfect opportunity to start your Beat Making and Production journey!
Oscar Robles will be bringing his unique Latin style to the new Guitarprogram!
Well known in the Comox Valley and beyond, Oscar is a musician and music educator originally from Mexico. He has toured in Asia, West Coast of Canada, and much of Latin America
A skilled multi-instrumentalist, he composes, performs, and offers lessons on guitar, bass, Chapman stick, ukulele, Cuban tres, and drum kit, and is adept in a wide range of styles including Flamenco, Spanish-Classical, Latin, Rock, Funk, and Pop! (To name a few)
Online Instruction
All online classes are open to students of all ages! Parents too!
All Classes will run over Zoom from July 19-23rd
Beat Making:10am-12pm
Guitar: 10am-12pm
Songwriting: 2pm-4pm
2021 CYMC Contemporary Music Festival
CYMC will be hosting our first ever online Contemporary Music Festival! This festival will feature performances and showcases of the students across our 3 brand-new programs, Songwriting, Beat Making, and Guitar.
Students will then be given an exciting networking opportunity to meet and exchange contact with other talented participants for future collaborations!
We are so honoured to be building the next community of songwriters, producers, and top performers here at CYMC!
I'm happy to personally answer any questions or concerns you may have, because we understand this has been a challenging year for everybody. Please don't hesitate to reach out if needed.
