Susie Hammond Art Silent Auction

Local artist and illustrator, Susie Hammond, has also generously donated her original ink pen and graphite illustration Iken Hare at Iken Cliff in support of the Save Our Suffolk Estuary fundraising campaign.

Susie was brought up at Iken and spent all her childhood on the river and marshes. She draws her inspiration from her rural surroundings in the Suffolk village she lives and illustrates in.

Hares and Suffolk Sheep are amongst her most popular pieces of work and she is influenced by nature in all of its forms and local history, myths and legends.

This characterful and distinctive artwork would be priced at £425 at one of Susie’s art exhibitions. It comes fully framed and measures 58cm x 47cm. If you would like to see it on display, it can be viewed at The Aldeburgh Bookshop on Aldeburgh High Street, as seen here.

To help raise vital funds for the upgrade to the flood defences along the Alde and Ore estuary, Iken Hare at Iken Cliff is available to the highest bidder via a silent auction. If you would like to bid on it, please click on the green button below, completing the form on our website with your contact details, together with the amount of your highest bid, by 5pm Monday 13th December. The winning bidder will be notified by midday on Tuesday 14th December and the art will be available to collect in Aldeburgh from Thursday 16th December.

Charity Golf Day Raises £60,000

We were delighted a Charity Golf Day at Aldeburgh Golf Club in September was able to go ahead as planned. The whole event was very successful, with £60,000 being raised for the Alde and Ore estuary wall upgrade. Our thanks go to all the participants, sponsors, and Tim Rowan-Robinson who lead the team of organisers.
A Great British Spraycation
Back in August a Banksy mural in Oulton Broad near Lowestoft, Suffolk was confirmed after it was installed on the bridge over the land spring drain in Nicholas Everitt Park. The artwork, showing three children apparently standing in a small boat placed under the painting, is accompanied by the caption 'We're all in the same boat''.

The potential flooding due to rainfall only serves to confirm the powerful environmental message of Banksy's striking image, as the children appear to bail out the sinking ship.
Aldeburgh to Orford 2022 Fundraising Flotilla

If you use social media, please do like/follow/share/ tweet our @SOSestuary posts and help spread the word. There are many people who love the estuary area but are not residents, and social media is a very effective way to reach many of them and encourage them to support the campaign too.
