Greengate Corner - Fab Venue For Our Bike MOT Event on 23rd October
Thanks to partners Newham Wellness and Four Square Church for supporting PSBL to get 16 bikes health checked, for Autumn and Winter cycling!  The event was funded by PSBL and Royal Docks Learning and Activity Centre.  It was a great space to chat and network, both inside the Four Square Café and in the car park. A local chap Robert helped pre-examine the bikes which helped Richard the mechanic.

We were able to do a little research about the needs of cyclists. The Greenway was a big favourite – a safe off road route.  There was interest in joining social bike rides to gain confidence and we will make sure we advertise forthcoming rides here, although none are currently registered with Newham Cyclists group

New City Family Centre to re-open!
PSBL is excited to be funding the new pre-nursery at New City primary School as they prepare to open the doors of its Family Centre in December. The pre-nursery is there to help the little ones who have not been able to develop some of their social skills and communication skills due to Covid.  The Family Centre will support Parents & Carers of under 5’s delivering a range of activities including coffee mornings, book clubs & messy play alongside the pre-Nursery.
PSBL At Newham Unlocked Festival
We were delighted to have supported Rosetta Arts with our art knowledge of the local area and  Plaistow talent during the Unlocked Festival. PSBL enjoyed being part of the final event in Plaistow park on Sunday 17th November where we ran tree dressing activities with local families.

A Much Loved Local Business Closes Its Doors And Donates to Locals

Those residents who have lived in Plaistow for many years may remember the Green Grocers store in Prince Regents Lane that in later years became a sharing book shop. The shop that has been in the same family for more than 100 years recently closed its doors for the last time. As the family packed up the store they made donations to local businesses and residents. Four Square church were so grateful to receive a wonderful chest set, it has taken pride of place on their games table to be used at the FREE community café on Monday’s & Fridays. Thank you to all the family for your generosity and the legacy you leave in Plaistow South.

Inclusive Dance & Movement pilot project  proves to be a great success!

PSBL is very pleased to have funded Tyler, a local young person & former Pupil of Tollgate primary school on an inclusive pilot project. Tyler worked with SEND students delivering inclusive dance & movement sessions along with mixed ability after school clubs. The project has been loved by all who have attended and the staff are amazed by the positive impact it has had. We will continue to work with Tollgate and other local schools to see how we can take this successful project forward.

Agewell Drama Black History Performance - a success!
As part of Black History Month, Agewell Drama Group put
together an excellent show on Zoom on 29th October which showcased and educated people about the Slave Trade.
A highlight about Ghana was shown, a country in West Africa where slaves were taken through the door of no-return to the West and how it was later abolished.
A recorded version can be watched HERE and it is certainly worth the watch!  PSBL is proud to have funded this show.
