Along with a fresh design for the newsletter banner, we have a new club flag to adorn the club house.  It proudly streamed for the first time last Saturday as the 1st XV secured their first win of the season thumping London Irish 50-20.  Here's to the Mitre flying high over many more wins for all our teams across the club.

This coming Saturday, 30/10/21, the 1st XV play Guildford in London 1 South.  They sit just above us in the league and the boys are eager to reverse that order following last week's success - and brilliant play (read the report in the Herald later this week).  It is a match not to be missed.

As usual, the game will be preceded by the Supporters' Lunch. The diner needs only to participate in a £15 raffle to enjoy a lovely roast pork lunch (to request an alternative if needs be, email gerry.b@farnhamrugby.org) followed by cheese and coffee,

To book your seat(s) email chairman@farnhamrugby.org.  We'll gather at 1.15pm to sit at 1.30pm to finish in good time for the 3.00pm kick off.

These lunches are open to all members, friends and supporters of Farnham Rugby Club.  Not only are they very good value, but also a tremendous social occasion attended by many of the club leadership who are more than happy to chat about the club and its doings.  We expect a good number to dine with us on this particular occasion, so book early to avoid disappointment.

On the subject of booking things, don't forget to save ££££s and buy your fireworks tickets in advance from the bar which is open all over the week-end as well as Tues, Weds and Thurs evening this week and next.

Last Saturday, the mercurial Toby Salmon scored his 100th try for the 1st team. Top work, Tobes.
(and Frosty the Lens who captured the occasion so professionally)

Brian Messenger is a true hero of our Mini and Junior Sections. His tireless work as our Fixtures Secretary and pitch space moderator means hundreds of young people get to play rugby at the weekend. And in his spare time, he coordinates the nigh impossible task of ensuring that the convoys of cars that pitch up on a Sunday have somewhere to park.

Brian has been involved with rugby for a number of years, Returning from America in 2006, he joined Lockside RFC (formerly Lensbury) where he played until 2010 at which time Lockside merged with Harlequins Amateurs and the Lockside name was lost.  Brian has since graced the pitches of Wilkinson Way with the Vets.

Brian dedicates a huge amount of time each week to making sure our Minis and Juniors have a great rugby experience, whether on the road or at the club.  We all owe him a huge "Thank You".
The Falcons are chuffed to have at last played a competitive game after their first three league fixtures were binned by the oppo.  Thamesians Ladies RFC accepted the late call for a fixture last Sunday and after an open, hard fought and even game, clinched  victory with a couple of late breakaway tries - 26-31.
Representatives and players from Harlequins will be at the club on Sunday November 14th to give us a close up of the Premiership trophies they won last season. The players and the trophies will be at the club between 10am and 12 noon. All welcome.

Membership card goes digital

In the next week or so, paid-up club members will receive an email from the Membership Sec that allows them to download a club membership card to their mobile phone.

It's easy to do as witnessed by the screen grab above. (I've scrubbed out my membership number to protect my bar bill.)

Now that we have a growing number of advertisers and sponsorship partners who offer members a club discount (see below), we need to issue proof of current membership - and the time and money it takes to print and distribute cards every year, we'd rather spend on making rugby happen.

The following local businesses offer FRUFC members a generous discount on their products and services:

Hogs Back Brewery
Comley Skip Hire
Oak Tree and Acorn Ltd - household and giftware
CE Hall Opticians
Embellished Beauty - beauty and massage therapy
Howett Thorpe - accountancy staff recruitment

Do support these businesses as they support your rugby.
