St Isidore Catholic Church

Adult Faith Formation (RCIA) Newsletter

Week of October 24 - 30 2021

Greetings Participants and Parishioners.

Thank you to those who joined us last week. While Catechumenates learned about the sacrament of Matrimony, our Inquirers discussed the Four Marks of the Church by Helen Gomez. Below is the video from Bishop Barron she showed in class for those who missed it, it’s a great informative video!

CATHOLICISM Series - Episode 6: The Mystical Union of Christ and the Church

This Wednesday, October 27, we will be meeting at 6:30pm in the Assisi Room. We will all meet together in the Assisi Room for opening prayer and announcements, and then we will split up between Inquiry group and Catechumenate group.

Our Inquiry group will answer the question Who Shepherds the Church?

and the Catechumenate group will be discussing all things Saints as we approach All Saints Day on November 1st. If you have a favorite saint please be ready to share who it is and why.

We meet for Breaking Open the Word every Sunday at 10am Mass. After the priest’s homily, he will call forward all who are participating in RCIA. He says a blessing over you then dismisses you with one of our team members to meet together and discuss the bible readings that were just read at mass.

It is very helpful if you arrive to mass early so you can sit close to the front. It helps us know who is present and it’s a shorter walk for you when the priest calls you forward.

Do you know where to find the mass readings so you can follow along during mass? There are several great resources:

  • In the pews there are green books with all the Sunday mass readings, there are dates at the bottom of the pages and they are in both English and Spanish.

  • Here are some website that also offer the readings, many of them have options to subscribe and have the readings emailed to you:

Don’t forget to check out Formed.org. There you will find amazing videos, audio books, and books about every topic related to the Catholic Faith. There are even movies you and your family can watch together. If you have a smart tv or Roku, you can get the Formed app and watch on your tv. If you have never sign in before, choose “sign up” then “sign up as a parishioner” and search for St Isidore Yuba City Church.
