Intercultural Understanding in Professional Contexts: Insights from Mind-Brain Sciences

Food will be provided. RSVP on Engage so we know how much to order!

The ability to build rapport in both  professional and personal settings is essential to building a strong network and can be crucial to professional success. Dr. Joseph Shaules, Director of the Japan Intercultural Institute, will discuss how brain-mind sciences (e.g. cognitive psychology, cultural neuroscience, etc.) can inform intercultural understanding in professional settings. This is a scientific look at culture, navigating one’s surroundings, and interacting with people of different backgrounds that you HAVEN’T heard before!

Spring IP Course List Available!

The short list of IP courses offered in Spring 2022 is up on the IP website https://ip.oie.gatech.edu/IPCoursesNextTerm. Don't put off your three IP courses - get them done now, and try to double count them for social sciences, ethics, and humanities requirements wherever possible! You can event sometimes double count with major or minor requirements, if your major or minor requires a course that's on the IP course list.

Please check lists CAREFULLY to make sure the class you select counts for the right category. Remember: INTA classes could be ANY category - it depends on the specific course, so check!

If you have any questions or concerns, please email internationalplan@oie.gatech.edu.

Registration Resources

Did you know there's a whole section of the IP website with registration resources for IP students? Not only is the short list of IP courses offered each term posted there, but also information on getting an IP permit for ECON 2101 and modern language courses, and more. Check it all out at the link above or right here!

Going Abroad? Make Sure It Counts!

You've picked where you want to go abroad and what you want to do - Great! Remember that there needs to be a connection between the two places you go abroad. If it's not language, you'll need to establish a topical connection ("intellectual coherence") by looking at a specific aspect of your major or a professional interest. Check out http://ip.oie.gatech.edu/Approval_Form for more information, and feel free to reach out to Ilana at ilana@oie.gatech.edu or by scheduling an appointment for more help!
