Global Handwashing Day 2021
|
|
|
On behalf of the WASHLAC Regional Group, we would like to thank you for your attendance at the regional webinar held this October 13 "The Hand Hygiene in the safe return to schools: Challenges and Learning" for decision makers, WASH actors, government officials, international cooperation and civil society.
With an attendance of 460 participants, we confirm the interest and commitment of the WASH Sector to provide hygiene services for the safe return to school and educational centers in our region of Latin America and the Caribbean.

En el marco de la iniciativa global Higiene de Manos para Todos desde la oficina de UNICEF Venezuela, los equipos de Agua, Higiene y Saneamiento (WASH), Comunicación para el Desarrollo (C4D), con el apoyo de Comunicaciones externas, movilizaron a los diferentes sectores con los que trabaja UNICEF que incluyen socios implementadores, aliados, entes gubernamentales y staff de UNICEF. Entre ellos, podemos destacar la participación del Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Salud, Educación y Aguas, 21 organizaciones pertenecientes al Cluster de Agua, Higiene y Saneamiento y otras organizaciones socias y aliadas de UNICEF.
Entre los logros más destacados, estuvo por segundo año consecutivo la mesa técnica de trabajo entre los tres ministerios dando como resultados destacados la publicación de una instrucción viceministerial emitida por el Ministerio de Educación que permitió la difusión de mensajes de promoción a la higiene para este día en todas las escuelas a nivel nacional, incluyendo la difusión, a través de sus canales, de materiales elaborados por UNICEF. La ministra de Educación también se unió a la campaña a través de su participación en un acto público en el Estado Monagas. Este año la participación del Ministerio de Aguas y estuvo dirigida a medios masivos y el Ministerio de Salud adicionalmente promovió actividades de participación comunitaria. Del total de organizaciones participantes, 17 de ellas reportaron la movilización de 38.346 personas en actividades de participación comunitaria en centros educativos, establecimientos de salud y comunidades, que incluyó concursos, elaboración de videos, obras de teatro, presentación de títeres, carteleras, canciones. En medios masivos, tuvimos un alcance de 3.160.172 de personas en radio y WhatsApp, 10.000 en mensajes de texto y 85.140 personas en RRSS. Cabe destacar que el Staff de UNICEF también se unió al Día Mundial del Lavado de Manos promoviendo actividades desde la oficina nacional y en las oficinas de terreno

The Urban Sanitation Program together with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment and Water and UNICEF, developed interviews in the media, a seminar and an educational fair with young and adolescent students to promote the valuation and adoption of hygiene practices of hands. GWC, Elrha and OXFAM joined forces to produce this 2021 update - the most comprehensive global data collection of its kind. More than 1,700 people affected by crisis along with 700 in-country and global WASH practitioners have contributed views and experiences to this gap analysis, providing an important evidence base from which to set priorities for future WASH research, innovation, coordination and delivery

"How young advocates advise on Climate Action in Latin America and the Caribbean."
As part of the report, young people propose strategies to generate a political, legislative, cultural, and social environment favorable to climate action. These proposals include environmental education and political will to enforce climate laws and international agreements. This document will support advocacy and action by youth advocates related to climate and the environment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties -
Water for Climate Pavilion
COP26 is being held in Glasgow between 31 October to 12 November 2021. The summit will bring together decision-makers to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
One of the key attractions of COP26 is the Water for Climate Pavilion, a multimedia pavilion located in the Blue Zone that will curate a wide-ranging and inclusive series of events demonstrating the numerous ways that water is enabling transformative climate action
