Dear Library Community,

This time of year, we like to reflect on what we're thankful for. This has been a challenging time for everyone, but we've been so grateful for the chance to serve you throughout the year. We appreciate how kind and flexible you've been, as we tried out new things, followed changing health and safety guidance, and slowly increased services. We know you may be facing tough times, but we hope you find a few moments to be thankful, too. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the library!

We're excited to announce that our Friends book sale area has reopened in Florence. We've got books and more for purchase. See below for details.

Did you get to watch Dune yet? We enjoyed seeing so many of you at the theater for our special events in October. There's one more to go: our online book club will be discussing Dune on November 4. You can borrow a copy of the book or graphic novel from the library (see below).

See you soon!
Book Brunch
Thursday, November 4, 10:30 AM

We're meeting on the first Thursday (instead of the second) this month due to the holiday. Our book club selection is Dune! You can choose to read either the graphic novel or the full, original book. Stop by the library to borrow a copy, while supplies last. And see above for additional Dune-related programming.

Contact ref@siuslawlibrary.org or call 541-997-3132 to get the required Zoom meeting information. See you there!
November Holidays
The library will be closed for the following days this month:

Thursday, November 11: Veterans Day
Thursday & Friday, November 25 & 26: Thanksgiving

Have a safe and happy holiday!
Books for Sale
The Friends of Siuslaw Public Library bookstore is now open in Florence! Stop by during open library hours and peruse the selection of used books, CDs, DVDs, and more. We've even got handmade cards for sale. All proceeds go to the library.

Our hold pickup and kids' activity carts have moved to the area next to the copier (straight ahead as you enter the library).

At this time, we're still not accepting donated materials, but we will let you know as soon as we can take them again. Thank you!
Expanded Library Hours
Florence: Monday-Saturday, 11 AM - 6 PM

We've expanded our open hours in Florence. Come in to select your own items and check them out. No appointment needed. Patrons of all ages are welcome. Masks are required for entry.

Mapleton is offering open hours on Thursdays, 12-5 PM.

Get all the details on our FAQ page. We can't wait to see you soon!
Siuslaw Reading Challenge 2021
We're trying something new this year: Around the Library in Twelve Months! Each month we'll be highlighting a different collection, but you can read or enjoy things in any order. Get your game board to play along with our virtual yearlong tour of the library. (Download the printable PDF or pick one up on the display table.)

See the full details and list of themes on our website: https://www.siuslawlibrary.info/reading-challenge.

November Spotlight: This month we're highlighting cookbooks. The library has a vast collection for every palate, from vegan to grilling, international to local, special diets to bread baking. Check out our display when you stop by the library.
Computers & Printing
We offer one-hour, walk-in public computers and printing during open hours. We also have an express station for quick printing service. And we have genealogy computers available for family history research in the Siuslaw Room. Ask for information at the reference desk or call 541-997-3132.

Mapleton is offering limited, one-hour public computer use during Thursday browsing hours.

Got your own device? You can also use our free public wifi in the parking lots of both our Florence and Mapleton locations. Look for the blue signs with more information.
Curbside Pickup Continues
Phone Request Hours: Monday-Friday, 10 AM - 1 PM
Pickup Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11 AM - 6 PM

We're open for browsing, but you can still get curbside pickup if you prefer not to come into the library. Call us at 541-997-3132 during phone request hours, or go to https://www.siuslawlibrary.info/item-request-form any time to get started. You can request up to five items, which are usually available the following business day.

Get your items inside the library during browsing hours, across from circulation. We're now doing weekly pickup service in Mapleton, too, on Thursdays 12-5 PM. Specify Mapleton pickup when you request your items.

Need help searching the catalog? Check out this brief video that will give you an overview of basic and power searches, and browsing new items.
