La Bodega Beer Club

11/03/2021

all about your november beer club!

Check these out!

November's club beers are little rays of sunshine peeking through our Fall storm clouds. While they're all on the easier drinking side of things, the food pairing potential keeps up with our Alaskan cuisine. Salmon, cured meats and cheeses, pork-based dishes and spicy food works well with all of these beers.

To all of our Club Members, we are thankful for you. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Cheers!

Don't forget that you can purchase extra bottles/cans of your November club selections all month, for 10% off!

If you would like to utilize our contactless pick-up option for your club at Metro, please call us at 907-569-3800 [ext. 1] to coordinate. We will get your name and pull your items. To use this option, the name on the ID must match the name of the person on the club list.

BALADIN NAZIONALE

100% Italian

Since 2011, Baladin has made a beer using all ingredients sourced from Italy. The water comes from the Maritime Alps, malted barley from their fields in Basilicata and Apluia. Hops are harvested from their fields in Piozzo and Busca in the Piedmont region. Spices come from Central and Southern Italy and the yeast is grown at the brewery in Piozzo.

Reminiscent of a witbier, citrus and spice are present, but toned down. Light-bodied, but with a pleasant roundness.

Try with smoked salmon, sushi, salad with a vinaigrette dressing, or even some bacon and eggs!

Almond 22 remartello

India Pale Lager

An Italian brewery that got its start back in 2003. Jurij Ferri was initially going to open a special bistro that would feature his "fusion" cooking, but luckily his wife, Valeria convinced him to open a brewery instead.

Almond '22 take its name from the building that houses the brewery. In 1922 it was used by women that worked there peeling almonds to create the "Confetti di Sulmona" or sugared almonds that are popular gifts generally handed out at the end of marriage ceremonies.

It pours a golden-yellow hue with floral and spice aromas. Crisp and light-bodied with more floral notes leading to a moderately bitter lingering finish.

Try it with a big, juicy cheeseburger. Divine!

hofstetten kübelbier

Bucket O' Beer

Hofstetten is an Austrian brewery located a bit west of Vienna. The current fifth generation owners, the Krammer family have had the brewery since 1847, but the brewery itself has been around since at least 1449. All of their raw ingredients are sourced from the surrounding Mühlviertel region. They mainly brew unique interpretations of classic bock beers.

Kübelbier is essentially a Zwickelbier. An unfilitered and unpasteurzied lager that is typically served after fermentation is complete. The name Kübelbier refers back to the buckets that brewery workers would fill with this type of beer and pass around. Only on special occasions though.

Its light-bodied and easy drinking, on the dry side of things with a crackery round body and a light bitterness.

Try with salmon any way you like it or with spicy dishes.

OEC EVERMORE

Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores = Order of the Eccentric Boilers

OEC was established in 2014 in Oxford, Connecticut by Ben Neidhart. The influence of their beer is from Northern Germany and across Belgium. Sours and Lagers galore! Old World styles are married with modern brewing techniques and new world thinking.

This thinking caused them to create their own "Horticultural Area" around their facility. There they have a citrus and a herb greenhouse, a vineyard, fruit bushes, and bee hives.

Evermore is reminiscent of a German Wheat beer, with clove on the nose and palate. It's highly effervescent, with a yellow-amber color with and a pillowy white head.

Try pairing with Mexican, Thai, Chinese, and Indian food. An even better pairing is with prosciutto and warm brie.
