ON VIEW THURSDAY: UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Department of Art proudly presents works by undergraduate students who received scholarship funding including the Department of Art Scholarship, the Brown-Mackenzie Arts Scholarship, Gay M. Grossman Memorial Scholarship, Zigmunds Priede Scholarship, Zelda and Max Berman Scholarship, the Sally SpencerScholarship, and the Horton Scholarship. The exhibition features a wide variety of media and conceptual investigations, showcasing the breadth and depth of our talented undergraduate students. Artists in the exhibition include Ashley Brazil, Emma Bushard, Charlie Cassellius, Ruby Cromer, Jo Garrison, Eleanor Giese, Zoe Long, Jaden McClellan, Julian McClellan, Magdalene McClun, Maria Oostra, Snow Chen Pang, Zoe Quinn, Izzy Shinn, Jesemy Travers, Ella Van Haren, Duke Van Heuveln, and Ruofeng Wang.

  • Avigail Manneberg showing in Shared Bodies at Rosalux (Minneapolis) | On view NOV 6 - 28
    Lecturer and MFA '12 Avigail Manneberg is showing new work in Shared Bodies, a two-person exhibit at Rosalux Gallery with fellow artist Daniel Buettner. Manneberg’s art—like her life—is based on the story of her family, the history of her generation, her culture, what she sees, and those she meets. Stop by the opening reception on Saturday, November 6 from 7:00 - 10:00 PM.

     
  • Katayoun Amjadi curates exhibit at Silverwood Park (St. Anthony)
    MFA ‘19 Katayoun Amjadi recently curated Silverwood Park's juried show (Un)Natural Boundaries and Borders, which features Lecturers and MFA alums Beth Dow and Erika Terwilliger. The exhibition runs now through November 30. Plan your visit here.

     
  • In case you missed it: Clarence Morgan and Isa Gagarin at MacRostie Art Center (Grand Rapids)
    This past August Professor Clarence Morgan, juror of the 29th Annual Juried Exhibition, and Lecturer Isa Gagarin exhibited together in STRATA at the MacRostie Art Center. Through drawing and painting (Morgan) and mixed media works on paper (Gagarin) both artists explore layers of meaning in the subject, creation, and composition of their works.

  • Call for UMN Student Art Exhibition Interest - Science and Art Student Group (OSA) Survey
    Do you have an interest in science and/or a passion for art? UMN Student Group Outreach through Science and Art (OSA) is planning to host an exhibit in late March 2022 inspired by science. Participation is open to all UMN students and we hope to align this event with the Student Research Symposium organized by the departments of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Soil Water and Climate. We're still in the early planning stages and would like to gauge interest with a short survey.     The Cal State LA Department of Art is currently seeking applicants for tenure-track faculty in Animation, Graphic Design/Visual Communication, and Ceramics. This interdisciplinary department offers students the opportunity to prepare for professions in animation, graphic design, fashion, art history, art education or the studio arts, including ceramics, photography, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Whittling Wednesday at Regis Center for Art!
Interested in learning how to whittle wood? Spoon carving? Come on down to the wood assembly room in the sculpture area (Regis E131) and learn the art of whittling with our Sculpture and Foundry Technician Paul Linden. We will have carving tools and a piece of fresh birchwood for you to start your project, compliments of Paul, who will also be on hand to demonstrate carving and whittling techniques. Thanks Paul!
