Inclusive practice at work in Loddon Mallee

Aboriginal and Cultural Hub at Sunraysia Community Health Service
Mildura has a large Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. Mainstream health and aged care organisations are working to make their services accessible and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This story is a practical example of how one organisation has started on the path to reconciliation.

LGBTIQ+ community of practice 
Guests for the 28th October CoP heard about about Thorne Harbour Country services from Claudia Validum  together with Donna Doyle, Boort District Health who presented on the impact of THC support to BDH inclusive practice...an education package mandated for all staff.

Access and Support Network
Next meeting 3rd November 130 - 330pm. Topic the new A&S Service Practice Guide - client pathway to accessing aged care services and the roles and responsibilities of A&S at each step in the process. Also, A&S Position Description update. 

Social Support Network to host RedCross
Team leader from Australian RedCross will be talk to the Social Support network on 9th November  1030am  about new services TeleCross and TeleYarn funded for Loddon Mallee and Gippsland.  No doubt there will be lots of sharing about coming out of lockdown and how social support groups are faring.

District Nursing Network
Members of the Sector Development Team met with some District Nurse managers to workshop parameters for the development of a diversity and wellness educative resource that will meet the requirements of new staff as well as the 'on the road' nature of community nursing; this responding to a recent survey around education needs. The next network meeting is 9th November 1pm  when the Regional Dementia Nurse Consultant will talk about the 4ATs / rapid assessment test for delirium.
 
Loddon Mallee Hume Aboriginal Network 
The Regional Community Continence Nurse recently presented to LMHARN and facilitated a discussion on barriers to access experienced by Aboriginal people, referring to specific Indigenous continence resources through the Continence Foundation Australia. The October meeting has been postponed while members of the network receive DEX/MAC training. Looking forward to 2nd December meeting in Echuca!
