OCTOBER 2021

Earlier this month, the third UN World Data Forum (UNWDF) gathered 700 data enthusiasts in Bern, Switzerland, and 7,000 virtually to discuss the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development's data needs and create a roadmap for the way forward.

In many ways, the UNWDF sped forward the conversation around development data and crystalized many lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the need for core funding for data and statistics. To better understand development data financing needs and target gaps, alongside our partners at the Bern Network, we launched the Clearinghouse on Financing Development Data — the world’s first platform to provide information on data-related projects, funders, and aid recipients to better match supply and demand for statistical support.

To learn more about outcomes from the UNWDF, read our blog by our Research Manager, Lorenz Noe. You can also watch our session recordings on topics such as adopting open data policies, creating data use ecosystems, and achieving inclusive data systems here.
