Your cosplay is unstoppable.

Last weekend I had a blast at Baltimore Comic-Con, where I sat at a table(!) selling my comic(!) for the first time ever. Thanks to everyone who said hi or just shouted "Pop Candy!" in my general direction on their way to buy a Batman T-shirt.
And yes, my lil' comic will be available to everyone soon. Stay tuned ...
I was thrilled to hand my diary comics to the wonderful Brian K. Vaughan! We've spoken several times over the years, but last weekend was the first time we met IRL, as the kids say.
I'm the un-Sassiest Girl in America.

In other news, this week I was listening to an interview with writer Christina Kelly on EVERYTHING IS FINE, the "podcast for women over 40" hosted by Kim France and Jennifer Romolini.

Back in the '80s/'90s, I devoured SASSY magazine and admired Christina's clever writing and killer taste. She hasn't worked in magazines for years, and when asked which famous people she'd still like to interview, she says she hopes to never interview another celebrity for as long as she lives. She also says that even though she's flattered when people compliment SASSY, it makes her feel like her best work is behind her.

I couldn't help but relate to some of these feelings--I, too, have waited hours for a famous person to show up to an interview and have heard some variation of "I used to love what you did. Why aren't you doing that now?" almost every day for the last seven years. But as I was reminded last weekend, I'm so lucky to have had that chapter in my life. Many folks I met through Pop Candy remain dear friends, and I certainly don't think I'd be making comics, writing plays and doing a million other things if I hadn't had that experience. (I *would* still like to interview Johnny Knoxville, though.)
Mmmm, these are good:

- SUCCESSION = perfection. (And so was the return of "What's Up with That?" on SNL with a surprise cameo by Nicholas Braun aka Cousin Greg aka Lindsey Buckingham.)

- I'm catching up with Season 3 of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. It doesn't take much for me to be blown away by special effects, but dang, these are some SWANKY EFFECTS.

- I just started watching ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING and why didn't anyone tell me (famous musician) is on it?

- My daughter and I blazed through Season 2 of THE BABYSITTERS CLUB. I'm a Mary Anne with Claudia tendencies.

- I loved Conan's chat with Simon Rich and just ordered his new book, NEW TEETH. For a sample of Simon's writing, read the laugh-out-loud short story "Guy Walks Into a Bar."

- I just started reading Kimberly Harrington's BUT YOU SEEMED SO HAPPY, which may make me feel so sad (but in a good way).
My new kids' book: UNICORNS

I have a new children's book on Epic, which is available for free through public schools and libraries. (Your kid might have an Epic account and you don't even know it!)

REALLY WEIRD MYSTERIES: UNICORNS is aimed for the 6-10 crowd but is appropriate for all ages. I had a blast working on this, and Bethany Stancliffe really knocks it out of the park/enchanted meadow with her illustrations.
