A LETTER FROM OUR COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Dear Members and friends of LOTM:

Advent hasn’t started but it seems like Christmas! Here are three pieces of great news:

1. The Call committee unanimously approved a Pastor candidate. At the recent Council meeting, Council approved proceeding with the call process and compensation package to offer the candidate. Council will be meeting the candidate by zoom, this evening, November 3, 2021. Shortly thereafter, the candidate will share the news of severance with his/her current congregation. After that time, we can make the candidate’s name public. Assuming all goes well, the congregation will have an opportunity to meet the candidate and spouse, Friday, December 3, 2021, at LOTM. Watch for details to sign up for specific times to drop by LOTM to get to know your new pastor. Sunday December 5, 2021, there will be a Congregation meeting to formally approve the candidate and compensation package. Please thank the Transition Team and Search/Call Team for their talent and efforts in securing your next pastor! The candidate’s start time is still under consideration but is most likely to be in February.

2. A preliminary budget is being considered by Council. Committee Chairs as encouraged to get their “wish list” budget requests to Amy Simper ASAP. A final budget will be approved based on the success of the Pledge Drive. The realistic goal for the 2022 Pledge Drive is $255,200. The Giving campaign began in October with the offering prayer repeated during Sunday worship services. A Gala event, organized by Julie Cope, catered by Kevin Clarke and crew, with entertainment from LOTM’s cast of characters, was held Saturday October 30, 2021. 18.5% of the Pledge goal was raised during that spectacular event. Thanks to all those who planned, decorated, cooked, served, entertained, and cleaned up after the event.
Budgeted income for 2022 will be slightly different than previous years because of the excellent response from both pledged and unpledged giving in 2021 as well as an underspent amount due to having budgeted for but not employed a pastor, August to December 2021. The $255,200 stated for the pledge goal is the no nonsense adjusted amount needed to make 2022 a success. Pledge cards are available near the organ at church. Completed pledge cards can be returned to the basket on Jenny’s desk or placed in Amy Simper’s mailbox. Can’t wait to communicate your pledge? Just call or email Amy Simper at rocklady9898@yahoo.com, 303-246-6747, with your annual pledge amount and method of giving. Anyone interested in seeing the complete budget may contact Amy Simper for a copy and personal explanation of the line items. A simplified focus on the pledge campaign will be held mid-November to mid-December.

3. An updated directory is coming! Watch for directions in this eNews and upcoming communication for instructions how to check and update your information, submit or get new photos taken, and how to get your name and information included in the directory. Won’t it be nice to see updated information and have this directory available for the new pastor? Don’t wait! Follow instructions today to include, confirm, or update your profiles! Thank you Ferol Menzel, for tackling this huge project.

With gratitude for a year of successful recovery,
Amy Simper
LOTM Council President
FRIDAYS @ LOTM
Your office support system is expanding!

Starting November 1st, Donna Clark will be the smiling face you encounter in the church office on Fridays.

As a highly active member of our congregation, Donna is a perfect person to help get our church directory updated for a new pastor - and our Church Administrator (Jenny) will continue Tuesdays through Thursdays, maintaining our building schedule and creation of bulletins, eNEWS, and prayer list.
Our Church Council approved such a change in September, following Jenny's request - driven by a need for more work / life balance. We are grateful for such transparent communication, and want to give a special thanks to Ferol Menzel for crafting such a solid transition.

God is good!
HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHT
Is it too soon to talk about Christmas? We think not!

This year, we have the exciting opportunity to share the season with our neighbors of St. John the Baptist in Breckenridge.
Three Christmas Eve services, 4P (family), 7P and 9P will be jointly held at LOTM -
and SJB congregants have been invited to share in all Advent services and participate in Christmas Eve choir, as well.

As shared in their most recent newsletter :
Did you know that the Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America are in "full communion?" On the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6, 2001, after 30 years of dialogue, the ECUSA and the ELCA, while maintaining their autonomy, agreed to come together to work for joint mission in the world and to allow clergy to move freely between the two churches. This is why the Rev. Lydia Wittman Ziauddin has been a Celebrant and Preacher at SJB, and now vice versa!

In the words of Louie Armstrong, 'what a wonderful world!'
