CLEAN WATER FUND GRANTEES ANNOUNCED

Lancaster Clean Water Fund grants $2,051,560 to 15 projects in latest grant cycle

The Lancaster Clean Water Fund, administered by the Lancaster County Community Foundation and managed by the Lancaster Clean Water Partners, awarded $2,051,560 to 15 clean water projects for the 2021 grant round. Each project is not only creative and collaborative, but focuses on ways to accomplish clean and clear water in Lancaster by 2040. Projects range from conservation practice implementation in urban and rural areas to educational outreach, signage, and events.

Congratulations to the following grantees: City of Lancaster, Conservation Foundation of Lancaster County, Denver Borough, Donegal Trout Unlimited, East Donegal Township, Ephrata Township, Friends of Fishing Creek, Interfaith Partners of the Chesapeake, Lancaster Farmland Trust, Lititz Borough, Little Conestoga Creek Foundation, Octoraro Watershed Association, Quarryville Borough, Strasburg Jay Cee Park, and Tri-County Conewago Creek Watershed Association.

Since 2019, the fund has provided $3,023,560 to 24 nonprofits and municipalities working on stream restoration, riparian buffer plantings, agricultural practices, education, and stormwater management projects. Since April 2021 alone, more than $2 million has gone directly to nonprofits and municipalities for clean water projects contributing to Lancaster's Countywide Action Plan and rapid stream delisting strategy.

Join us to dive deep into the year one results of our rapid stream delisting strategy and hear the steps that have led to progress on the ground from catchment leads. We’ll be inspired from special guests and introduce you to our newest team member, and all attendees will have the opportunity to share success stories. Lancaster's collective team is on a continuous learning journey for unique ways to engage in diverse opportunities.

Lancaster-Lebanon Watershed Forum and Science Symposium

Registration is filling up, but there is still space and time to register for the FREE two-day Lancaster-Lebanon Watershed Forum and Science Symposium on November 19-20, 2021 at Elizabethtown College. The deadline for registration is October 31, 2021, so register now to reserve your spot!

Organizers are also extending the call for proposals for posters only. Submit your proposals for posters online by October 31, 2021.

MS4 Lunch & Learns are back!

Inspired by the MS4orum, the Stormwater Action Team is excited to provide resources and new ideas to you virtually on select Thursdays in October and November. Presentations will cover BMP inspection programs, closing out NPDES permits, stormwater ordinances, and more.

This is a FREE webinar series but registration is required. Presentations will be recorded and shared with those who registered.

Interfaith Community Bike Ride, Interfaith Partners of the Chesapeake
November 14, 1-4 p.m. // Bright Side Baptist Church
IPC is partnering with The Common Wheel, a community bike shop, to host a community bike ride touring installed projects at faith communities in Lancaster City. IPC now has a local presence in Lancaster, PA if partners are looking for education, support or resources!

Wolf Administration Honors 13 Projects Statewide with 2021 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence, Dept. of Environmental Protection
DEP honored 13 projects by school, business, and community organizations from around the state with the 2021 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence. Of the 13 projects, seven are located within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and two in Lancaster County! Congratulations to Lancaster Farmland Trust and LandStudies on this award.

Implementation funding awarded to restore the health of local watersheds
Congratulations to our Lancaster County partners and other CAP-counties on being awarded Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Grants from the Department of Environmental Protection and Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund’s Small Watershed Grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

The Lancaster Clean Water Partners is a countywide, collaborative partnership of diverse partner organizations that come together with a shared vision of clean and clear Lancaster waterways by 2040.
