Hello Scholars!

Last week we had our Big Brain: Should the Ronin Institute Teach? It was pretty well attended, so it looks like we do want to be teaching! If this initiative interests you and you want to be involved, then add your name and thoughts to this document, so we can keep you in the loop.

Our Scholar Networking Event is this week! Feel free to invite anyone who'd like to get to know some scholars. Please do register (session 1 & session 2), so we know you're coming.

The Infrastructure Working Group (WG) and Governance WG meetings are this week. In the Infrastructure WG meeting we'll be talking about potential changes to the infrastructure of our website (members only section?). In the Governance WG meeting we'll be discussing our membership approach at the Ronin Institute, as well as what we think it means to be a Scholar at the Ronin Institute.

Finally, I introduce our most recent Scholars! Please give them a warm welcome into the Ronin community.

See you around the community!

- Arika 🍁

All events are on our Ronin calendar (add the Google Calendar). If you want to add something to this Weekly Update that you think Ronin Scholars would be interested in, please reach out via weekly.update@ronininstitute.org

Independent Scholars Networking Event
Co-organized by
Ronin Institute and IGDORE

Who should come? Ronin Scholars, IGDORE Scholars, and anyone else who wants to come network!

Why should you come? Are you interested in getting to know other independent scholars? We might be “independent”, but that doesn’t mean that we want to work alone. In this networking session, we’ll have a chance to have 1:1 conversations with each other. The goals of the session are to:

  • Get to know each other
  • Share lessons learned about how we overcome challenges doing scholarship
  • Voice our concerns and questions about scholarship
  • Create more community with other independent scholars
