Celebrating National Women’s
Small Business Month
October is National Women's Small Business Month! Did you know that women-owned businesses account for 39% of all privately-held firms and contribute 8% of employment and more than 4 % of revenues? We would like to take time to recognize the amazing achievements of all the female entrepreneurs around the country, who are changing the world one brave act at a time.
As a family-owned business, we are always turning to others like us for knowledge and inspiration. From make-up marvels KJ Miller at Mented and Zanna Roberts Rassi at Milk Makeup (pictured with Mikaila here), to consumer packaged goods geniuses Denise Woodward at Partake Foods and Tyla-Simone Crayton at Sienna Sauce, we have learned so much and applaud the impact they are making.
It is always so rewarding to be recognized for working hard to be a successful business. Check out this recent PureWow article that features black women-owned food and beverage brands, including Me & the Bees Lemonade. And...now...let’s all raise a glass of ice cold lemonade to salute all of the women of small businesses in October and every month throughout the year!
Fabulous Fall, A Time for Friends & Family Fun
By D'Andra
With the cooler temperatures arriving and all the fall activities, it’s one of our favorite times of the year (second only to spring and summer months we lovingly refer to as “lemonade season”). This year, now that the pandemic is more under control, we are excited to enjoy the fun fall fanfare, especially Halloween. Head on over to Instagram this Saturday and follow @mikailasbees to see the big reveal of the Ulmer family Halloween celebration this year. May we all “follow the yellow brick road” to fun and safe times this Halloween and also into the upcoming holiday season.

And with fall comes the baking season. We love the smell of this lemon bundt cake baking on a lazy weekend afternoon. This crowd pleaser can be made with our Classic or Mint Lemonade, and is perfect for weekend fun, fall festivals, church socials, and even school bake sales. Sound yummy? Please forward this email to the bakers in your family & tag @mikailasbees with a picture of your tasty creation!
ME & THE BEES LEMONADE BUNDT CAKE INGREDIENTS
  • 1 (18.25oz) box of lemon cake mix
  • 1 (3.4oz) pack of instant lemon pudding mix
  • 1 cup Me & the Bees Lemonade (Classic or Mint)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix and pudding mix, then stir in the oil and vanilla extract. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the Me & the Bees Lemonade.

Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake in a preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool. Dust with sifted confectioner's sugar or a lemon sugar drizzle (optional).
Thanks for Supporting Bee Conservation efforts!
By Mikaila
Last month was my birthday and, to celebrate, I decided to do a Facebook fundraiser to help support educating youth about the importance of bees. Thanks to generous donations from our fans, the Whole Kids Foundation will receive funds to help put a beehive in a school through their Bee Grants Program. Our Healthy Hive Foundation matched the total amount, meaning $810 will go to the effort!
