What we're reading:
Amaliah's series talking to women who are championing the art of hobbies is fascinating! The most recent instalment where Rosalind Marshall interviews Esra Hamal about the art of illumination is no exception.

What we're watching:
The remarkable journey of Amal - a 3.5 metre tall puppet of a young refugee that just turned 10 years old. She represents all displaced children, often separated from their families, as she embarked upon a remarkable journey across Turkey and across Europe, to find her mother, get back to school and start a new life. Travelling over 8000km she brings with her the urgent message “don’t forget about us!” Amal just celebrated her birthday in London and will end her epic voyage in the coming days in Manchester. There are tens of thousands of children like Amal, that have fled war torn countries in the hope to rebuild their lives. (Thanks to Shade 7 Publishing for bringing this to our attention).

What we're listening to:
We were delighted to catch Julie Siddiqi's contribution to BBC Radio 4's Thought for the Day series. Her reflections on Islam in Portugal got us reminiscing about our custard-tart fueled trip several years ago!

What we're loving:
Loving the 3 part collaboration (1 | 2 | 3) between Soraya Syed and Peter Sanders - "We need to see the unity before we can address the separation that divides, conquers and destroys us. When we have tasted this unity, our lives will change for the Good."

Jeem Juxtapositions:
Have you ever found yourself getting in your car, arriving at your destination, and wondering how you got there? It's common to find yourself disconnected when you do the same things over and over every day.⠀Check out our recent Instagram post 3 simple mindful practices to live every day?

Thank you all for continuing to frequent our Jeem Essentials* reading list. The list is a curated selection of reads that have featured in this newsletter, been mentioned in one of our Instagram Stories or have simply tickled our fancy. One thing's for sure: they resonate with our desire to inspire peace, purpose and productivity.

Quote we're pondering over:

"Focus on what you can do, not what you can't. Small steps turn into miles" — @justfaisallatif
