Seneca Falls NY

I realize that you haven't heard from us in a while, since our wedding trip to Brooklyn.  However, we have been moving about.  This newsletter will get caught up to date.

Last weekend, we spent two nights and three days in Seneca Falls NY.  We have often talked about going there since it is the site of First Women's Rights Convention 1848 and also hosts the Women's Hall of Fame.  But being close at hand, we just kept putting other trips before it.  We decided that maybe it is not so much a questioning going to new and far away place but just looking and seeing what is right under our noses.  That was certainly the case with Seneca Falls.

Baseball

We had the opportunity to watch two grandsons playing baseball.  Ryan (shown above) played games in the summer and early fall in Buffalo.  Click here to see Ryan's photos.

We also got to see Grady doing some nifty pitching and fielding as well as clutch hitting at games in Rochester area tournament.  Click here to see Grady's photos from the Rush-Henrietta Tournament where his team won the championship.

150th Birthday

This summer we celebrated our 150th birthday. (Bill turned 80 in January and Marilyn, 70 in July.)  It was a balmy summer evening and a good time was had by all.  Click here to view photos of the event.

Visit to Huntington Beach

In early August I flew to Orange County to visit Galen before the twins headed off to college.  Another great visit.  I was pleased to be able to spend a lot of time with Robert and we all enjoyed Henry's barbecue ribs prepared sous vide.

Brynne's Send off

Erin and Derek hosted a family dinner to send Brynne off to the University of Dayton.  It was a great gathering the Pickett clan along with some friends.  Brynne appears to be off to a great start.  As it turns out, her cousin Brock is a student at nearby Wright State University and they have gotten together several times.  Brock is also having a good experience.  I look forward to seeing him play soccer in person this week as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Duquesne University.  Click here to see photos.

Visit to Appleton

In late August we flew to Appleton to visit Meg and Heather.  We also got to spend a lot of time with Bronwen and Zach.  We had a delicious dinner which the two of them prepared in their apartment.  The photo above shows six of us out to dinner on our final night.  We even got in some pickleball with Meg and Heather.  Click here to view photos of the visit.

Sam's Eagle Court of Honor

On September 26, Sam received his Eagle Scout rank at a Court of Honor in Pleasant Hill.  I was able to fly out for the event and to visit Sam and his family whom I had not seen in over three years.  To say the least, Sam has grown both in stature and maturity since his eighth grade graduation.  He is a fine young man with a sense of modesty that belies his academic, scouting and athletic achievements.  He will graduate next May.  Click here to see photos of the Court of Honor.
