Change in the air
Change is a constant with which many of us struggle.  Despite the lessons of life that have taught us that change is often a good, surprisingly refreshing experience, still we often wrestle with and resist different circumstances for routines and experiences with which we've become accustomed.  I know the feeling quite well.  While this condition is more common for older generations, it's by no means limited to any single demographic.  A deep confidence in an unchanging God is the key for navigating the sometimes choppy waters of change.  Trust God.
With a mix of emotions, I announced my pending retirement in the new year at our August family business meeting.  While I’ve yet to determine a specific date in 2022, I indicated I was giving the minimum six months notice I promised a while back.  Doing so gives the church an opportunity to act in a timely manner to prepare for a transition.  This Sunday, Oct 24, those in worship will be asked to submit the names of the three best people they can think of to be considered as part of a pastor search team.  Brenda Sulok, leader of the administrative team, will have more to say about this and answer any questions you may have regarding this process. Note that you may also submit names by clicking on the link below.  Begin praying now for God's direction and guidance in the matter pastoral leadership for the Layton Avenue Baptist Church.  Pastor Keith
You may Click here to submit names to be considered for the Pastor Search team. You'll also have an opportunity to submit names during in person Worship this Sunday.

Fall Luncheon - A Success!
Great Company! Great Food! Great Fellowship! The first Outreach/S4S Fall Luncheon was held on Saturday, October 9, 2021. The luncheon offered an opportunity to get to know some regular participants more intimately and for them to meet those at LABC who make it happen each month. Attendees continuously expressed during and well after the event how delighted and appreciative they were, as well as their desire for a future event. A big THANK YOU to all of the individuals who gave of their time and talent to bring this event to life...your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

One of the “special seasonal events” we speak of with the ministry of WWW is within sight.  The annual Soup Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, Nov 5, following the usual 10:00 AM Bible study time.  Seniors, do yourself a favor and mark this date.  Consider bringing a friend.  In this Sunday's bulletin you'll find a tear-off tab to let those coordinating the meal know if you're coming and what you’ll bring.
