Move Well, Move Often Seminar Days (November) 
The PDST PE team are delighted to offer the next phase of Physical Literacy professional development for primary schools – Seminar 4, which focuses on developing pupils' motivation and confidence to participate in physical activity for life. Two teachers from each school are invited to attend these face-to-face seminars which begin around the country in November. Participants will explore a variety of strategies that can be easily implemented in PE lessons to motivate and develop pupils’ confidence to improve participation.  Registration to attend this seminar will open shortly at www.pdst.ie/onlinebooking

PDST PE: School Support for 21/22
PDST PE School Support is open for applications for the school year 21/22.  We would love to work with your school and together we can explore priority PE strands, as well as other aspects of how PE is taught and physical literacy.  In-school support is available in a face to face or remote format.  Apply now by clicking HERE.

 
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY 

Active HALLOWEEN (Friday, October 22nd) 
ASF encourages primary and post primary schools to celebrate Halloween in an ACTIVE way. We are always on the look out for innovative and imaginative ways to promote physical activity in a FUN and inclusive way. Please share your #FeelGood Active Halloween initiatives with @ActiveFlag @HealthyIreland to be in with a chance to win an outdoor speaker for your school. Alternatively, you can share your ideas with ASF by emailing resources@activeschoolflag.ie 

Active Break Every Day Challenge
(November 8 - December 3) 
ASF encourages all schools to take on the Active Break Every Day challenge. This 4-week challenge is designed to motivate, and to support, teachers and schools to build movement breaks into their daily routine. It is one of the KEY whole of school activities that schools working towards ASF must undertake and should form part of the annual calendar for all ASF schools.

Top Tip - We encourage schools to laminate the challenge charts and hang them outside of classroom doors to create a buzz around the school.

PARTNERSHIPS

(NEW) Action for Life (Irish Heart Foundation) 
The Irish Heart Foundation’s new Action for Life PE & SPHE programme is easy to follow, FUN and creates lots of opportunities for children to be physically active. With free printable lesson plans, posters and a resource pack, you will find lots of new ideas for PE, with a physical literacy focus using the ‘Head, Heart and Hands’. Find Out More 

 
Olympic Federation of Ireland - Dare to Believe 
Congratulations to Dare to Believe ambassadors- Olympic Champion Kelly Harrington and Paralympic Silver medallist Nicole Turner- on their medal winning performances in Tokyo. We are beyond proud of all of our Dare to Believe ambassadors and the whole of Team Ireland for inspiring the nation at the Olympics and Paralympics. We would also like thank the 800 + schools, 1800 + teams , 55,000 children around the Ireland who joined Team Ireland for the inaugural Olympic School Challenge, Road to Tokyo in the spring term. It is important that all schools wishing to renew their ASF during 21/22 attend one of the Renewal Criteria webinars, scheduled this week. Please note that these webinars will focus on the renewal criteria only.
